No one can deny that Buenos Aires is THE place to buy leather stuff. From jackets to bags, from shoes to hats: buying your own leather garment is a must do in this meat-lovers city.

Many visitors had a wonderful exprience at Silvia y Mario´s, a family owned store half block from Florida St on a narrow street called Marcelo T. de Alvear 550.

The window doesn't say much, but inside you will find the world in leather.  Dont miss going to the first floor where workers are doing the jackets, they will give you an explanation on how they do it. This is one of the few places customers could actually see how this handcraft is made. It requires skill and precision, and each piece is hand cut. The only machine they use is the sewing machine!

You can take pictures and they will give you a few samples of the different leathers, as some come from cow, other from goat or carpincho, a typical waterpig from the region.  Finally going downstairs to shop is a great experience, with state-of-the-art designs, reasonable prices and with the knowledge that these pieces are absolutely unique and made by human hands.

This is a shopping experience plus education spot, not to miss !
