Do keep in mind that these temperatures are averages! The weather in The Netherlands is highly unpredictable and could range from snow storms and icy winds during winter to heat waves during the summer and everything in between. The western part of the country tends to be less warm during summer and less cold during winter (compared to the eastern part) due to influences from the sea.
Good advice for all travelers is to pack clothes that you can layer, with a really warm coat for winter, and do not forget to bring an umbrella!
If you take your trip in April or May be sure to take a day trip to experience the Keukenhof. You will be treated to a display of flowering bulbs unlike anything you've ever seen. The Keukenhof is a must see.
Amsterdam can be very good value in November and December and is a great destination for shopping. The weather can be harsh, it is not uncommon to have heavy rain three days in a row. When the wind blows in the tempretures can be Artic. If you are planning on being outdoors for any length of time, you should consider packing hiking type clothing, to keep warm and dry. You will always find the brown bars as somewhere to stay warm or dry off.
