Being that Mexico City has a population of more than 18 million people, it has many public transportation options.  The most popular and the least expensive is the Metro or subway system. For $.20 (2 pesos) per ride the Metro can take visitors anywhere they need to go.   As an added bonus, if you are 60 or older, the ride is free.
