We stayed at the barcelo jandia mar for2 weeks june 2006 all inclusive, it was a nice hotel and kept very klean, the cocktails were very good, the food was ok i am a very picky eater and always found food to eat alotough was usually fruit or chips.


There is a very steep hill up to the hote which is made worst by the heat,

Jandia is a new resort which is why there isnt many shops or attraisons around the resort although we found a nioce little english bar that showed big brother

it was a nice stay but watch out for the nudists

Most of what we wanted to say about this hotel has already been said. Your expectations of what a 4* AI should offer will determine your view of this place. We had not been AI before so not able to compare but this is what we thought.
Liked.......
- simple cold buffet for late arrival (nice touch)
- some cocktails and sparkling wine on AI
- absolutely beautiful beach,never crowded
- very rarely struggled to find sunbeds together
- fish restaurants in Jandia
- crazy golf (watch out for the "volcano hole" it's evil )
- good range of food in restaurant
Disliked........
- given a map and instructions to find room
- cardboard coca-cola cups except for piano bar and restaurant
- long transfer from airport with "hard sell" reps
- extremely busy restaurant
- entertainment
- animation team particularly by pool
- alcohol large quantities but watery
- food by pool left uncovered
Recommend.......
- room upgrade (extra privacy for 13 yr old daughter) huge bath (don't forget the bubbly), separate large shower (almost a double) in giant ensuite, double width sunny balcony, air con works without card key so room stays lovely and cool. Great views across pools and beach in the distance. Cost - 30 euros a night per room. Well worth it.

Hola! just got back (23 april 2008) from jandia mar,went A/I cost us £780 for 2 1 week , through hayes travel , flew from east midlands with air malta the least legroom we've ever had ,no meal or entertainment (travel agent forgot to mention this) but not that bad really, 4 hour flight, transfer jandia took 90 mins'ish . really nice modern hotel , rooms very clean and roomy ,with fridge ,nice shower , cleaned everday, towels changed whenever you wanted , t.v mostly german,bbc news only english chnl but hey ! pool towels depoit of 40 euros req, 2 euros if you change them ! staff really friendly , restaurant massive it was really busy while we there so it was a bit mad if you went at peak time not that bad really, just go in pick a table, self service for everything wine (red/rose/white)red chilled was my fave,beer nice,soft drinks ,water , juice , tea coffee, food : meat carved for you was pork ,turkey,pork,chicken,duck,pork etc , then you had usual A/I stuff fish,pasta,salads,chops,goat 1 night,cold meats ,cheeses,sweets bit samey but icecream nice,breakfast usual stuff bacon weird sausage,fruit ,cereals,toms,beans,broccoli!pastries,yohgurt loads fruit,(go early for breakfast it gets mental) toasters usual 10 mins wait loads of nice breads,coffee from machine a bit naff! lunch 1.30-3.00 much the same, we ate 3 meals a day 3 courses a meal (looking at my belly big mistake) all in all food was good , nice soups too,i got into the spanish soup (gazpacho)well nice,bars : only 2 at night sometimes big queue all drinks local brands o.k though,beer was not bad. pools: freezing !if you like a swim i did'nt think they where very good,o.k for kids i suppose,sunbeds: we managed to get one everyday but got chokka , never saw the towel removal police as mentioned in other reviews.weather: very very windy,first 2/3 days it was cloudy but warm then sunny really hot glad of the wind,night time got pretty chilly(not for me as i'm hard) but my girly girlfriend was wishing she'd took more than one cardgian(girls eh!) entertainment : (joke) usual daytime stuff, night :snakeman,balloonman,dancin people,clowns DIRE ,piano bar , woman on organ man with guitar ..terrible (our opinion) also no smokin anywhere in hotel which will please majority of people i know , but i like the occasional fag so had to go outside in wind and cold (did'nt bother me like!) like being at home! jandia: 15 mins walk (3/4 euro back in taxi) one long strip netto,spar,perfume shops,restaurants,1 english bar great for footie, a couple of nice germanish bars ( really friendly) ,pretty much like any european resort, no hassle off time share types,or restaurant owners trying to drag you in (nice) loadsa tacky shops.beach : really nice beach great stroll from hotel end to lighthouse ,some bad sights though (overweight german bums and worse ! (no offence german people) the resort as mentioned is probably 60% german 20%french 20% english same in the hotel. the HILL, killer ! (did'nt bother me like!) overall me and my darling girlfriend went for a week chillout to drive away those spring/winter blues , we had a great time ,sorry if i sounded a bit moany in parts,the hotel was great,food good,entertainment pretty poor,weather good just the ticket ! back to work tmrw can' t wait !!!!. any questions drop me a line. p.s do i win an award for the longest review ever ? p.p.s buy your fags and booze in town (200 regal 19.50 euros) smirnoff 12 eoros i think!

We agree with several other reviews regarding the hill. It is too long and steep for families with pushchairs. Even when you are young and fit!
Jandia isn't at all lively. If you want a bit of life and entertainment Corraljeo looks a lot better.
Beach at bottom of hill is very nice, though very windy. Due to exposed location of Jandia.
Hotel only good for sun worshipers or those who don't want to wonder.
Don't hire a car from AVIS at the hotel. 60EUR Group A, places in town from 40 EUR for the same thing (Hertz), with Super CDW.

We found all the staff very helpful and friendly.

Outdoors too cold for small kids.
Indoor (In SPA), restricted to over 16's.

-- Food --
Buffet was generally reasonable (not great), though repititive.
Good variety of food in general. Salad bar excellent. Snack bar wasn't that great though.
Roast Meats (by entrance to Dining room on Evenings) generally excellent.
Large dining room. Long way to walk to the food and drinks.
Drinks fountains in the Buffet resturant over gassed (Beer and Soft). Infurating to make several trips for a single glass.
Free beer was local canaries 'Tropical' which was quite good.
Free spirits are generic versions of brand names. All decent.
Seating areas for drinks and people watching, all pleasant.

Pleasant, modern and clean. With added benefit of an empty fridge.
Rooms not small child friendly. Bede was hot water only, scalding hot!
Room door lockable but, our 2 year old opened it with the main handle several times. Not good!
