“Loved Eva Palace”

Grecotel Eva Palace

Jul 8, 2008

My wife & I stayed at the Eva Palace during the middle of June 08

We had a fantastic room (standard, did not pay extra) with a wonderful panoramic view of the bay and across to Corfu Town in the distance. The room was spotlessly cleaned everyday and very comfortable. Our balcony was less than 100 metres from the sea.

The hotel itself was lovely, great pool area again very clean. We had fresh pool towels changed every day. The gardens were great too, as was the private beach. I read a review about loud rap music being played all day on the beach; it was so quiet when we were there.... Great clear warm water to swim in too. Between May & June the hotel is strictly adults only which suited us just fine! The private beach has vendors offering water sports etc. We highly recomend you ask reception to book a trip with Antiono's Boats - we did and it was fabulous. He advertises through the hotel. For 25 Euros each he took us, and 4 other couples, up the North coast for the day stopping in crystal clear waters for swims, village for shopping, and a virtually deserted beach where he cooked bbq for lunch and passed round free wine, water and of course Ouzo!

The staff at the hotel were always very polite & helpful although the restaurant staff often looked a bit harrassed! The food was generally very good although we would have preffered to see more Greek food each night and not so much 'international'

Our only gripe were the bar prices - 5.60 euros a large beer and 20 - 30 eurs a bottle of wine with dinner was steep. However, the shop within the hotel itself sold the same wine for about 6 euros and we were free to use the fridge in our room. So every day we stocked up on beer & wine and enoyed the lovely views from our balcony. Also worth noting that the taverna just up the road does lovely food with just as lovely views with menu & bar prices at half the hotel prices....

All in all a lovely hotel for a quiet getaway. We dould deffo go back.

“Niced hotel but...”

Grecotel Eva Palace

4 of 5 stars

Have just returned from a stay at the Eva Palace. Although the hotel is very nice it is definitely not worthy of 5 stars. I just couldn't put my finger on it but it lets itself down in some ways. The room we had was very nice and well laid out but even though it was cleaned everyday it somehow smelt dirty -like the mop the floor was cleaned with was not clean or something. By mistake I got into bed one night and had sand on my feet -my fault I know but the next night when I got into bed the sand was still there, not only had the sheets not been changed but had not been shaken out -again not 5 star service. The pool towels were only changed twice a week albeit you could have more if you wanted. I was a bit disappointed in the meal arrangement, although I could not fault the food -plentiful and good, it was buffet service everynight -again not something I have ever come across in a 5 star hotel. On a positive the staff were very nice and friendly and helpful and the hotel was in a lovely setting.

All in all we did have a lovely holiday in Corfu which is a beautiful island but would we stay at Eva Palace again, mmm probably not if we could get something better. But don't let that put you off you will probably go and wonder what I'm whinging about! It's just that having experienced several 5 stars across the world and indeed in Greece -this hotel aint!!

Grecotel Eva Palace

going there on our honeymoon having been to a five star hotel before it was not what we expected we found the reception staff very unhelpful we booked a sea view which you could only see the sea if you leaned over the closed in balcony and looked either to the left or right, we found the bathrobes old and miss shapened the towels were very ruff and worn the food in the only resturant that we were allowed to use was almost the same every day and not very warm . the brochure we booked it from was premier luxury not what we found/

“Nearly a 5 star!”

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Eva Palace in Corfu - a couples only hotel with no children - bliss! We had a few problems on arrival due to our room apparently being flooded and we were put up in another hotel (The Daphnillia Bay - not a bad hotel but full of families which was not what we had booked) not far away for one night. We found out later that The Eva Palace had had a large TV crew staying at the hotel which we, along with other guests affected believe this was the reason our rooms were not available. Anyway putting that aside, the hotel itself is very good, set in landscaped gardens and having a nice pool. The staff are mainly very friendly, a couple let the side down. The food I am afraid is the worst part of the hotel, very boring buffet style (half board), with very few themed nights. The food was often cold, tough meat and empty plates with staff rushing around sweating filling things up. The hotel got very busy during our second stay and this naturally made things worse, including having to wait for a table! The entertainment was limited in the evenings and generally during the day. The bar at night was just entertained with a keyboard player, singer and violinist (she was quite good). The location of the hotel was a bit far out (1 kilometer to the nearest bus stop) which made us relax in the hotel more that we would have normally done. The taxi's are expensive and tend to change what they charge - so best to ask before you get in. The hotel private beach was very nice but again not fully functional - they had a beach bar that was under construction and not open during our stay. The service and quality of the hotel is definately up to 4 star and there were many times during our stay when all our problems and niggles were forgotten due to the magnificant views from the rooms, the bar and the restaurant and the friendliness of the staff - not forgetting the weather which was fantastic for us (up to 37 degrees). The hotel, being 5 star, is very expensive, we ran up a rather unhealthy bill on drinks and lunch. We found an excellent taverna up the road Aprovado where the staff were the funniest and friendliest we came across. The food was excellent especially their meat plates which were enormous. The view again from there was to die for - would definitely recommend a visit.
