“Horrible Hotel Also tried to over 1000$ steal from us”

Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour

I booked a Suite via the Phone directly with the Hotel. We arrived and they did not have our room, yet had out reservation in the comp. Said they would put us up that night in a room, ( same price $350 and put it on our card) then tomorrow get us a similar room to the one we reserved. And they would have to move us aroung as we made reservations for a week...

We got to the room and I was shocked. The Toilets ran constantly, seat were broken, shower did not drain, run down, I could go on yet I would certainly not believe the pictures they show you online, it Is Nothing Like That at all. The Pictures on their site are all fake. Did not see anything like them there at all!

We checked out the next morning, of course and went to Bahamas Beach Club, 5 stars there, saved our trip.... Then the Abaco Beach Club called or Condo saying they could not charge our card for the night. Called my CC co to get them paid, to find out they were trying to charge our card $350, $450, $150, and $550 dollars! Not jocking, I called them and confronted the Mgr about this, he became very aggresive and rude. I explained they had locked my card up, and the bank told me I had to go into the branch to square it away ( No BofA in Bahamas.. ) then the idiot threatened us stating "someone is coming to see us! "

I ask who and he said "someone is coming to see us" I say when he said Now...and it was not the police. I left my Family on our Vacation to go to the Police Station, made a reprt, the Office there told me they had other or several reports from this resort doing this same thing. I ask the officer how they continue to get away with it, he said because no one takes the time to go to the other side of the island to make a Criminal Report. Who wants to do that on their vacation....This is the full truth.

I am ok we did not get ripped off thanks to BoA, Yet wanted to warn anyone else Hope you avoid the same. Bahamas was nice, yet for the $ I would certainly Not Go Back there. Bread $5, Pack of Ham $9 Gas $7
Milk $9 is was crazy and the restaurants 1/2 star. Ate at the Pool Bar
Desperate people with no means of income, feeding from tourist.... They did not offer a Low enough Rating here for us to rank Abaco Beach Resort ( Resort??? ) Pathetic Sad Hotel Do Not Recommend!
The people were nice though Locals...

“A Nice Place to Visit, But...”

Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour

Longmont, Colorado
May 8, 2008

We went to this hotel because of the marina. Since we were sailing for a few days, we wanted to end our vacation by staying at the resort. The resort itself has great ammenities for boaters, shower, bar, restaurant with really good food. The staff was also friendly.

Since this place is pretty pricey, we stayed in a standard room, as did our friends. The beds were terrible. Since none of us are youngsters, this is a big deal. The mattresses are covered with plastic and are as hard as rocks. So, you wake up in the middle of the night sweating. And, the air conditioner is preset not to go below 73 degrees. Thank goodness the open patio door provided some cool air.

“Great relief after being on Lubber's Cay”

Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour

5 of 5 stars
Chandler, Arizona
Mar 24, 2008

Review is late, but I still wanted to update.

Stay here if you fly in late, or want to fly out the next morning in and out of Marsh Harbor. Husband and I had been on Lubber's Cay for a week in late September, and Abaco Beach Resort was a perfect way to end our wonderful time in Abaco! Just to be treated so nicely and have great food instead of making lunch/dinner for ourselves was great! Standard Room was expansive, loved the patio, and the bathroom was very nice, tile, and shower nice and hot!
I do not know if people are still commenting on the fact that there is alot of "boat" talk, well, yes there is. We have a 19 foot boat at home, but loved all the people we met who had anywhere from 19 foot to 150 foot yachts...Boating really is one big community. Even if you have a row boat at home, you'll fit right in! And if you do not have a boat, do not worry!! Did not see any braggers, just nice people happy to be in Abaco!

“Nice, but noisy”

Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour

Mar 9, 2008

We had never been to the Bahamas before, but wanted to try the out islands to do some snorkeling, rent a power boat, etc. Abaco Beach Resort we eventually settled on after looking at information on several sites. Always harder to book places when you have never been there, but hey, that's part of the fun too.

We booked a 1 Bedroom Suite as we like to have a full kitchen. When we arrived we had been moved to a villa instead for the same price - nice surprise. We had two bedrooms, living room, two bathrooms and full kitchen, as well as two outside decks. Seemed very nice.

A bit of a surprise the first night (a Thursday). The music at the bar (which was right across the little path, so maybe 80 feet away) did not stop til 11PM. We had been up since before 4 AM, so not the quiet we wanted. Friday night it kept going til midnight - and it was loud enough that the walls shook occasionally. There were some nights with no band at the bar. We did ask to move, but the best they could do was move us two villas over. While it would have been a tiny bit less noise, it did not look like it would make a huge difference, and our deck area was fairly sunny, the one they wanted to move us to was fairly dark. So we stayed put and had some loud evenings, others were nice and quiet.

The room itself was great. The housekeeping was excellent. The Wifi was totally inadequate, and ridiculous that they advertise they have Wifi. My wife and I would have to keep moving our chairs nearer to the sliding door in the room hoping to get a 1 out of 5 signal if we were lucky.

The restaurant food was OK, but they added 18% gratuity to our dinner. By itself that might be ok - but this was not mentioned on the menu, and our waiter was slow, forgot our drinks (and had to be asked twice to get them), and downright rude when he wanted us to sign the bill. Take my advice - eat down the road at Curly Tails, or second best is Wally's (though it is only open two nights a week). Food at Curly Tails was great, service was wonderful - we had a bad experience with some incredibly rude guests who we tried to be helpful to and paid the price, but the staff at Curly Tails is great.

We did rent from Sea Horse Rental which is at the resort. Had a good time with the boat and visited several other cays and some snorkeling sites.

“Had a great time, but it is currently a work in progress”

We went there on our honeymoon in November. The staff at the hotel is awesome. Very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and had a nice water view. Don't expect five star luxury, but still nice accomodations. The food and drinks at the hotel were very good. The outside bar was also lively and fun. The resort was undergoing a lot of construction when we were there, which has the place somewhat in disarray. It looks like they still have a ways to go before they complete the improvements, but I expect that once the construction is complete, this place will be more luxurious and a more complete resort atmosphere.
