While the Treasure Cay beach is truly magnificent, the Treasure Cay Hotel was quite disappointing in several respects:
1. Our "deluxe " room overlooking the marina, was poorly maintained.
2. The hot water heater did not work properly and the water temperature constantly fluctuated from too hot to too cold, and ran out of hot water too quickly. The maintenance staff was not able to resolve the problem.
3. The porch floor did not drain well and therefore, when you stepped into the room there was always the danger of falling on the slippery tiles.
4. In general the pumbing was terrible - kitchen faucet was loose, no pressure- bathroom shower leaked onto the floor of the living room, once again creating slippery puddles.
5. Two burners on the stove did not work.
6. The bath upstairs had a faucet in the bathtub that was loose and water pressure upstairs also was poor. Plumbing fixtures were rusty and did not work well. The toilets were not well secured to the floor and kept cycling on their own.
7. This was supposed to be a luxury unit with bedroom and bath upstairs, kitchen, living room, bath and porch downstairs. Although spacious, it was neither luxurious nor worth the cost. Furthermore, upon checkout a 20% tax and a 10% maid service charge was added to our bill, resulting in a 30% higher bill than we anticipated. The room was not vacuumed or cleaned well.
On the positive side the stores were convenient and well stocked, the pool was nice, the proximity to the beach was a plus and the property was nicely landscaped.
The only restaurant accessible without a car was pricey and not outstanding.
While other nearby hotels offered discounted weekly rates, this one did not.
While we would gladly return to the Abacos for their natural beauty and the friendliness of the people, we would not return to this hotel.
Serious money and work need to be invested into this facility if they want to build guest loyalty .
