“Disapponted”

Treasure Cay Hotel Resort and Marina

Dec 31, 2007

While the Treasure Cay beach is truly magnificent, the Treasure Cay Hotel was quite disappointing in several respects:
1. Our "deluxe " room overlooking the marina, was poorly maintained.
2. The hot water heater did not work properly and the water temperature constantly fluctuated from too hot to too cold, and ran out of hot water too quickly. The maintenance staff was not able to resolve the problem.
3. The porch floor did not drain well and therefore, when you stepped into the room there was always the danger of falling on the slippery tiles.
4. In general the pumbing was terrible - kitchen faucet was loose, no pressure- bathroom shower leaked onto the floor of the living room, once again creating slippery puddles.
5. Two burners on the stove did not work.
6. The bath upstairs had a faucet in the bathtub that was loose and water pressure upstairs also was poor. Plumbing fixtures were rusty and did not work well. The toilets were not well secured to the floor and kept cycling on their own.
7. This was supposed to be a luxury unit with bedroom and bath upstairs, kitchen, living room, bath and porch downstairs. Although spacious, it was neither luxurious nor worth the cost. Furthermore, upon checkout a 20% tax and a 10% maid service charge was added to our bill, resulting in a 30% higher bill than we anticipated. The room was not vacuumed or cleaned well.

On the positive side the stores were convenient and well stocked, the pool was nice, the proximity to the beach was a plus and the property was nicely landscaped.

The only restaurant accessible without a car was pricey and not outstanding.

While other nearby hotels offered discounted weekly rates, this one did not.

While we would gladly return to the Abacos for their natural beauty and the friendliness of the people, we would not return to this hotel.

Serious money and work need to be invested into this facility if they want to build guest loyalty .

“great place for boating”

Treasure Cay Hotel Resort and Marina

Just spent 5 nights with my wife in a deluxe King bed suite.
It's great if you have or hire a boat and it's walking distance from the beautiful beach of Treasure Cay.
The room was pleasant even thought basic and in need of some renovation: especially the bathrooms were very small and tired.
Service is almost non existent: they just do your bedroom sometimes in the morning: do not expect to be treated like a king !
Overall, we felt it was overpriced
All essential services are nearby: grocery, batelco office, car rental, bakery, restaurant...
I believe in season it may become very overcrowded but in August we felt very well with few people around and a very quiet environment around you.
The only con: no dining options apart the Spinnaker Restaurant which is not bad for dinner ( limited menu though...) but serves ridiculous breakfasts for too high prices.

“Absolute Bahamas!”

Treasure Cay Hotel Resort and Marina

My wife and I stayed at the Treasure Cay Resort and Marina from
28.May through 04.June (2007) and absolutely loved it!

I really was hesitant about writing this review for entirely selfish reasons...
I would like to find the property after 10 years just as unspoiled and beautiful as it was when my wife and me visited it this year, but I must keep to my word.

Neither the best pictues nor words can describe the beach that is about a 6-7 minute walk from the suites.
The beach is clean and absolutely breathtaking!

The Cocoa Beach Bar lies directly on the beach about 20 yards from the glass clear water. Dinner is served here generally three times a week, but it is always open for lunch.
Meals at the Cocoa Beach Bar and Spinnakers Restaurant were very tasty and very fairly priced.
The view from Spinnakers over the Marina and the peace and quit were absolutely fabulous!

The Tipsy Seagull Bar filled me with nostalgia and transported me, just a moment, into a Hemingway film that never was.
Pizza is served here at least once if not twice a week, it's not Sbarros though.

The Resort Personnel in general but the property manager Mr. Fetsch were/was the best! Mr Fetsch and his staff were always ready and happy to answer any questions. Mr. Fetsch was also very accessible.

Trasure Cay is a little town in and of itself with a great grocery store, a smaller convenience store (which has better hours of operation), a great little bakery, yes with great cinnamon rolls, Golf Cart rentals, a dive shop, a couple of gift shops, a hardware store, and a computer place.
All of these places are within 3 to 4 minutes by foot away from the resort's suites and rooms.

We rented a golf cart to check out the very large resort area including golf course, and drove along the entire 4-5mile area of the Cay. There are beautiful and colorful houses along the nicely asphalted road which brings one from end to end of the property.

There are two asphalted airfields on the Abacos one about 20 minutes from Treasure Cay (TCB) and the other one near Marsh Harbour which is about 45-50 minutes away. Both airfields have adequate toilet and check-in facilities as well as small snack bars.

The only negative points about Treasure Cay Resort and Marina, is that the bathroom in our room needed a facelift, and the room's door was often difficult to open. The property owners could invest a bit more into the bathrooms and the sticky doors. The hotel was given a 3.5 out of a 6 star rating by the travel agent's catalog, but it could easily be given a 4 star rating if the pool was a bit larger and the bathrooms and sticky doors fixed.

Keep up the good work and we hope to see Mr. Fetsch and his staff again.

“Total quiet and relaxation!”

Treasure Cay Hotel Resort and Marina

Aug 16, 2006

I stayed in Treasure Cay arranged by Island Dreams. I had a one bedroom condo at the Treasure Cay Marina. The accommendations were really quite acceptable. It was clean, spacious and had everything you needed, including a full kitchen with appliances, minus a dish washer and daily maid service. The bed was a queen. It was very comfortable. The air-conditioning worked well except when they had two power outages.
A few suggestions:
1. Bring a battery opperated fan, candle in a glass and flashlight. They had two power outages, on different days, lasting up to 3& 1/2 hours each!
2. Bring your own food for breakfast. The prices to eat there are very high! The prices for food everywhere are beyond belief.
3. Do NOT drink the water! Stray away from the ice-cubes and any shell fish. I got a terrible case of travelers diarhea! If you eat the Thursday night pizza at the Marina Bar, do NOT eat it with any pepperoni or sausages! (Be prepared to pay 29.00 for a large pie! (That, also may have caused my being sick as we had the one with their meats.) Stay with the plain cheese pizza. It's also a family night so skip it if you want a peaceful dinner. There were many kids there dancing and having fun.Tony Tony (That's his name!).....keeps his microphone very loud.
4. Bring mosquito repellant! I had 18 bites.
5. Rent a golf cart and get to the beaches on the North side of the Island near The Cottages that are just being built. There are four left and are right there on the beach.
6. Eat in the restaurant "Coconuts"! It's worth the small trip there. Do not be surprised that their fish is all frozen. Their lobster is not frozen but be aware that it may have the ability to make you sick.
7. Visit the little bakery there and endulge in their cinnamon buns. If you are staying at a condo, buy her fresh whole wheat bread.
8 Across the street from the Marina used to be a Hotel. Now, the bar is all that remains due tothe hotel being torn down from the hurricanes that ruined it. Don't miss ordering a STING V if you like those tropical rum drinks.
Treasure Cay is not for those who seek evening action and a huge choice in dining. It's not for those who are on a limited budget either. It's an absolutely wonderful place to chill, unwind, look at the most gorgeous blue/green clear warm water, fish or read. Island hopping is available for the fee of a private boat or ferry which is 12.00.

“great beach--so so rooms”

My husband and I stayed on Lubbers for 5 days and wanted to experience more of a resort. The room was not the best but we only slept and showered there. The resort runs the COCO beach bar and restaurant which was awesome. The people are so friendly and make sure that you feel welcomed. The Tipsy bar, on the other hand, which is directly in front of the marina, was always running out of ice and had no service. We usually waited 15-20 minutes for a drink when there were about 10 other patrons around the bar.. It was convenient to have a strip center of bakeries, liquor store, and grocery store within walking distance to your room. We did not appreciate the 15 dollar a day fee for maid service that was added on our credit card...Would probable not stay there again.
