Lares de Chacras was our favorite hotel of all the places we stayed during our 16 day trip to Argentina in March 2008. The hotel and its grounds are lovely and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. The staff arranged a driver and made reservations for us at several fantastic vineyards and were always available to help with anything we needed (including serving us a fantastic dinner at midnight on the day we arrived). We also desperately wanted to go to the last day of the wine festival and when we failed to get tickets on our own the staff at the hotel called around to all the other local hotels and were able to get us second row center seats to the show. The staff truly goes out of its way to make your vist really wonderful. Several of our favorite moments of our time in Mendoza were arriving late back to the hotel and then having a bottle of wine from their cellar in their beautiful living room. My only regret of the trip is that we only stayed here for three days and then switched to a hotel in Mendoza itself. Next time I would stay the whole time at this hotel.

We loved this place. The rooms were huge! I was leary because the price was alittle cheaper than some of the other places, but this place was so wonderful. Don't think twice about staying here.

My wife and I spent five nights at Lares de Chacras at the beginning of March, 2008 and were delighted with the how the staff went out of their way to make our trip to the Mendoza region memorable. Each day they called and arranged winery visits, excellent luncheon and dinner reservations, and safe drivers with clean remises to take us to our destinations.

What we liked about Lares de Chacras was how clean and large the rooms were, the facility was completely non-smoking, the full breakfasts, the quietness and safety of this inn, and the central location to visit the local wineries. We were so glad after staying at Lares we did not make the mistake of staying in downtown Mendoza. In addition, there are a number of excellent restaurants in Charcras de Coria. However, the highlight of our trip was the late two hour multi-course gourmet lunches each day with a variety of wines served in beautiful vineyards with the Andes as a backdrop at a world class wineriers after visiting other bodegas in the morning .

We saved money by not hiring a tour guide as the wineries have their own guides and nearly all speak English. Remises, all metered, charge less than the cost of renting a car and the drivers know exactly where the out of the way wineries are located. Lares of Charcas personnel did all the arranging at no charge. On our trip to Argentina next year we will stay at Lares again.

We stayed at Chacras in January and were happy with the hotel, but maybe not so much with the noise.
The room was spacious and clean, though there were a few minor problems: the A/C didn't work (thank God we didn't need it), a lamp bulb was burnt from our arrival and wasn't replaced in the 3 days we were there, and the hair dryer was coming apart, which would have been dangerous had there been a kid in the room.
But the worst for us was the noise. The hotel is in the middle of a residential area and was not very quiet, especially because of dogs barking at all hours (even their own dog), which I might find cute for a little while but not after our first night there. The pool was quite small and full of kids running around and screaming until past 01.00 AM, when some of us wanted to sleep.
The staff was very helpful and friendly though, recommended places to eat and booked all wine tours for us very efficiently.
All in all I guess I wouldn't stay there again since to me quiet is a must on my vacation, but if you have kids and are use to that and barking dogs, then you'll enjoy it.
