My husband and I stayed here a total of three times over X-mas (2 nights) and the beginning of Jan. 08. From our 1st stay we were welcomed with open arms. We had the great pleasure of meeting Robin who was most friendly. We left to continue our trip to the BVI's and upon returning to San Juan decided to stay an extra week to tour Puerto Rico. We decided to stay here again for another night to decide what we wanted to do for the rest of our trip. We again talked to Robin who sat us down and help us with an itinerary. He was such a HUGE help and he spent 1/2 hour with us to figure out what we wanted to do. At the end of the week we came back again to spend the last night at the Holiday Inn. It is soooo convenient to be close to the airport and the beach and the stores. We had dinner at the Chinese Restaurant two times and it was great both times. The thing that really stood out in our minds was the staff. There was not ONE staff member that we would pass that did not have a nice hello and a genuine smile for us. It was a real treat. The pool was awesome as well. The beach is picture postcard!! The girls at the front desk were awesome and had a great sense of humour as well - which I think is just as important as a smile!

Stayed Christmas eve & Christmas night (pre-cruise). Staff friendly. Lobby clean & suprisingly lovely, as were the grounds. Ate in Chinese restaurant - wonderful food & service. BUT..room was tiny (no room for our luggage -2 25" & 2 carry-ons)& carpet filthy & hadn't been vacuum'd, walls dirty. Bathroom very tiny. Long black hairs all over the floor tile. 2 pillows needed cases..called - never received. had to call x2 for specialty pillows. Christmas day room never cleaned, beds not made and no clean towels (even after asking at the desk for towels). For price paid (& it turned out to be full price for deluxe...not standard), feel we were truely cheated. Never again Holiday Inn in PR!

We stayed there 1 week during Christmass 2007. We always stay in Holiday Inn, because it is in our price range. Between all our stays in many other cities I was SO Plesantly surprised with this particular HOliday Inn. I wouldn't think it was 3 stars only. We got an upgrade (extra 18 bucks a night) for a room with balcony/terrace, and it is totally worth it. It is a tree story section of Holiday Inn surrounds the beautifull pool area with lot's of flowers, palm trees, nice lounge area. On Saturday there is a concert at the pool area. This Hotel is not directly on the beach - it is 1 block away from the Isla Verde famous beach. Service is exceptional! There is 3 restoraunts on site - Puerto Rican, Chinese and Fantasy Cusine. All are good, but more of a $$$. Within 5 minutes walking distance - is Metropolitan highly recommended $-$$ with authentic PR food, Cocobongo -$ mexican with nice margaritas, other mexican in opposite direction $$, forgot it's name, Ponderosa $ with breakfast buffet). Of course since there is about 10 other hotells within a walking distance - those have plenty of more expencive but excellent dining, they have casinos and nice bars $$-$$$$.

Pleasantly surprised by the staff, food, ambience... agree with some previous reviews about condition of bathrooms, but they were serviceable... and for about 1/3 price of the supposedly ritzy hotels (whose rooms aren't so amazing either, I know) -- during holiday season, it's perfectly located for visiting the restaurants, casinos and beaches nearby . Lobby bar was surpisingly "happening" some nites -- overall, very comfortable, low-key and reasonable. And again - the staff could not have been nicer. Instead of the usual disappointment in going to a supposed 4 or 5 star hotel, here we went to a 3 star hotel -- and were very pleased -- and used our money for gambling, dinners and renting a car ...
