Just returned and Rhodes is a lovely island. The hotel was also lovely apart from the food. The weekly a la carte was no such thing with a fixed menu presented and the choice of wine was Red, Rose or White !!!. The main restaurant was too small with queues to get in and rushed service to get you out asap particularly at dinner. Despite a varied selection not once in a fortnight was a steak on the menu something I have always seen previously at 4* hotels . The roast lamb was restricted to one slice with very strange looks if you asked for a second. At breakfast always queues for fried eggs. Also along side the bacon carrots and sprouts were on offer. If this is a sample of Thomson platinum in future I will stick with Thomson Gold

We had a 10 day stay in the Rhodos Royal from 30th August - 9th September - we had a fabulous time the hotel was immaculate - the rooms were very nice and clean - the facilities were excellent especially the help yourself beer pumps at every bar!! The food was excellent as were the staff - we will certainly be going back there - we had a great time and it is just far enough away from Faliraki so you have a choice on whether you want lively or not and if you do then it is only a 5 minute taxi ride.

Well worth the money.

Me and my parents went to this hotel in August and were quite disappointed. We went expecting a platnium hotel but found just a normal hotel.
The pools were awful and slimy you could pick up pieces of the floor and that was the kids pool! Would you want your children standing / slipping on that?
Beach bar was fab! Friendly and poliet service all day long however the br upstairs in the main hotel you could hrdly get served and at one point we ended up with things we didn't want.
Food- alright if you like things drowned in oil and herbs even some of the less picky eaters in my family were reduced to eatting bread and salad!

We stayed for two weeks in this Grecotel. As we heard from regular Grecotel visitors this hotel would not meet with the Grecotel standards. But I must say that this hotel, beside some things that have to change, was quite comfortable. Most of the staff (especially at the reception, beachbar and restaurant) are very helpfull and nice. Our familyroom was spacious enough and very clean. Thanks to the nice cleaning ladies. The food was allright and there was enough choice(also at the beachbar). You don't have to wake up at six in the morning to reserve some sunbeds while there are plenty (finally a hotel that understands the needs of its guests!!!!). I always go to 4 or 5 stars hotel at a sandy beach. This was the first time we had a stone beach. This has some + and -. A big plus is that you don't carry 10 pounds of sand in your swimmingtrousers to your room. :) The beach and the see were also very clean (blue flag!). Kids need swimmingshoes!!! But when you are in the water (mind the slippery rocks!) you see a lot of fish. Our kids (9 and 6) enjoyed the see, the fish and the stones very much. Also a big compliment to the nice people of Amilikos watersport centre at the beach! The botanic garden is beautifull. We really loved the entertainmentteam. They where just great! Don't go to Faliraki it's horrible (except when you are a youngster!). Rhodos city is nice but unfortunatelly the old city is very touristic with too much shops. If you want to see the real Rhodos, rent a car, and go to the other side of the island and drive down the western coast. It is very nice! We are sure you will enjoy your stay at this hotel!
