My husband and I were privileged to take an overnight charter with Captain Bill and Ingrid on July 2-3, 2008. It was, hands down, the highlight of our 4-week trip to Puerto Rico.
We were a little apprehensive when we arrived as we had never been on a sail boat before. But Bill and Ingrid soon made us feel completely at home and comfortable. They were just amazing to watch. We were awed just watching how they work as a team in managing every aspect of the sailing duties. So relaxing just watching the boat sail along the coast.
They fed us constantly--and the food was GREAT! Watching Ingrid preparing food while the boat was at sea was quite amazing. I was just trying to stand up in the lower cabin while she was cutting up home-made banana bread for our snack.
By lunch we had stopped to snorkel. Of course, knowing where to stop for snorkeling is the key and Bill and Ingrid are experts at picking the sites. The reefs off Vieques are clear and pristine-- lovely snorkels.
All of our meals were fabulous. Bill and Ingrid are both excellent cooks who seem to really enjoy providing their guest with unique foods to try. We had our first passion fruit on the boat--and we loved it!
We spent the night just off the coast of Sun Bay in Vieques. We took the dingy that night over to see the Bio Bay. What a unique treat! Would highly recommend it! We woke up the next morning to complete peace and quiet with not another person in site around that beautiful bay. Our time on the ERIN couldn't have been any better!
We particularly enjoyed talking and getting to know Bill and Ingrid. Their stories about living on a boat and in Puerto Rico in general will stick with us for years to come. When we left the boat, we felt we had made two new friends. What better recommendation can I possibly give you?
The charter was costly to us, but worth every penny.! Treat yourself! You won't regret it!
