“Beware staff gives wrong information”

The hotel offers very basic rooms but quite comfortable. It is located quite central. You can easily reach the beach and shopping area. The staff in the hotel polite but give wrong information. You have to pay 20$ per night for car park. The staff suggested us free parking area, which later on cost us 180$ because of the tow-away area. He didn't informed us about that and the singes are quite small. Beware!

“Happy with our stay and would do it again!”

I found a great rate for this hotel ($129/night) and decided to take a chance. I was considering this or the Ohana and ended up choosing this one because of the pool area and the fact that I could tell that it was directly across the street from the Moana Surfrider. Although the hotel is not one of the new luxury hotels it ended up being a great choice. The location is excellent. We were given room 718 which overlooks the pool and even offers a small view of the ocean. (nonsmoking and king bed as requested) While the room decor itself was fairly old fashioned and basic, it did have a small balcony overlooking the pool and the nightly entertainment. There is a small stage and local bands provide music nightly until 9:30. The weather was perfect for sitting on our balcony and listening to the music. Very pleasant. The room comes with a small tv but we never even turned it on. There is a small fridge, a inroom coffee maker, an iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer. The bed was comfortable and when we called and asked for a lighter blanket and foam pillows they arrived in less than 30 minutes. If you like granite countertops and brand new furniture you might not be happy with the room but we were fine it. We brought our own laptop and verizon internet connections but did think it odd that the hotel doesn't offer free wi-fi. They also charge for the inroom safe which we didn't use. One of the best things about the place is the location. It is right in the middle of the best part of Waikiki (IMHO) Plus we were extremely happy with our view of the pool. The hotel was reasonably quiet and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again if we could get the same room and the same price.

“Third time, great as usual!”

I love this place. This is my third stay. Room 918 in the main tower is my favorite!! While compared to other hotels, some will say it is 'older' in appearance, but it includes all the amenities I needed. Only complaint is no wireless in the main tower. Although I was able to get it from the Hyatt T-mobile signal though while sitting on my lanai.

Location, location. Awesome pool. Fresh pineapple in the afternoons, chair rentals, towels. Great sister properties. I used the gym down at the Sheraton Waikiki and also the beach chairs/area over at the Moana Surfrider. It is a short walk to EVERYTHING!

I can't say much more great things about this place. For those that complain, I think they might be expecting more for the $140/night price tag. Unfortunately you have to pay a LOT more in Hawaii for those luxuries, but I can say as an avid traveler I am quite pleased with all this hotel has to offer.

“What a dump!”

Frankly I am shocked to read ANY positive reviews of this hotel on trip advisor. Unfortunately, we read them and booked at the PK partly due to these reviews, and we were extremely disappointed. Maybe our expectations were just too high, having stayed at nicer hotels in the past.

To say that the PK is old and run down is understating the truth. If you want a hotel that is clean, new, nice, modern; Then this is not your place. Our arrival in their drive up area was greeted by a mob of people also arriving, but not a single solitary valet, and not a single, solitary bellman. I was finally told that they don't valet, and told to pull around back to their self-parking garage. For the privilege of parking my own car in their dilapidated, crowded garage that has NO ELEVATOR in it, I was CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL $20 A DAY. So if you plan to have a rental car, factor that into your costs.

Our "ocean view" room on the 19th floor (also paid $50 more a night for the ocean view) was a view of buildings, but if you walked out on the crumbling deck and looked 90 degrees to the right, you had a ocean view, so I guess that counts. The elevators to get to the 19th floor were always crowded and slow, and stopped on the 12th floor (with no passengers waiting) every single time you went down.

The lobby and pool area were a constant area of activity, and the free pineapple was a nice touch, especially when waiting in the lengthy lines to check in and check out. The TV checkout system doesn't work, and the business center computers are nice in that they are complimentary, but not nice in that they are not connected to any printers, so you can't print boarding passes or anything like that.

The hallways, corridors, carpet, EVERYTHING, has a musty 1960's, run down feel to it. Sheraton/Westin have 3 other properties within walking distance and all of them, especially the Sheraton Waikiki just down the way, are nicer and classier. The PK is obviously the poor stepchild of the rest and they have not put a dime into the place in 30 years, I guarantee that.

The room was a joke. Standard size, old furniture. I didn't know they still made color TV's as small as the one in this room, it was like 10 inches, in a terrible old cabinet. The bed was actually fairly new it seemed and comfortable, but the A/C worked very poorly. I called maintenance about it after the first night and was told they would look at it. Not sure if they did, but it did not improve. The bathroom was dingy and the tile and counters were old, old, old. The whole place is badly in need of a makeover, or the wrecking ball.

We also booked on a package where we were offered $100 "dining credit" for any of the restaurants in this hotel or the sister properties. We had 2 great meals at Rum Fire, at the OTHER Sheraton, only to find out when we checked out, that the $100 was for "food only". No drinks, none of the tax, nothing but purely food was covered, so we didn't even make it to $100 on our stay. What a scam! This was nowhere in the fine print, but what can you do at this point?

    • Disliked — The hotel itself can only be described as a dump.

“Good stay; would recommend.”

Sheraton Princess Kaiulani

We stayed a week from Apr. 11 - 18th and enjoyed the hotel because:

1) Great location - heart of Waikiki and close to shops, eateries and car rentals and tour pick-ups. The beach is a few minutes away and just across the street. Also close to bus services.

2) Rooms were clean and a good size. We stayed in a high ocean view room (on the side which does not face the pool where there is nightly entertainment and hence may be noisier). Our ocean view was limited however, as there were so many high rises on the beach front which stood in the way.

3) Free pineapple between 2 and 3 pm and if your plane is late, there is a hospital room which you can use for an hour (after you've checked out). Allows you to shower and clean up before hopping on the plane.

4) There are free computers (about 4 working stations). The key is to go really late at night or in the middle of the day when most people are out. I think you could also hook up your own laptop if you decide to bring one along.

We would stay there again for sure.
