“Fun, but...”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

Hotel had great location. Loved how close it was to everything Waikiki. Watching the sunset on the beach with the live band playing in the back ground was our favorite. Breakfast was great...we packed it up in the little coolers they give out and found a quite spot on the beach to eat. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful...front desk let us check in a little early which was very nice. Our only complaint is a big one...the bathroom was dirty! The floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned...and the tub had dirt/sand in the bottom that washed away when I scrubed at it a little. We were only there one night so we didn't make a fuss about it. The rest of the room seemed clean and we would probably stay again just for the fun atmosphere and great location...we'll just ask that the bathroom be taken care of!

“Nice Hotel. Great Location!”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

My husband and I stayed at the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach for our 2 year anniversary. Upon arrival, the ground floor of the hotel is really inviting. You have to take an elevator/escalator to get to the hotel lobby to check in, but we didn't find that too troubling.

The hotel room is really small (as other reviewers have indicated), so for persons traveling with a large group or families traveling with children, I would not recommend this hotel, particularly if there are more than two people in your party. The same can be said for the hotel bathroom. It's rather small, and not the best in terms of cleanliness, but it serves its purpose. Hotel towels are plentiful, as well as all of the other usual amenities.

The hotel is directly across the street from the Marriott, which is nice and the location is great! With a short walk across the street, you'll find yourself on Waikiki Beach. Also, for convenience there areseveral food establishments directly downstairs on the ground floor--particularly, Wolfgang Puck's Express, Coldstone Creamery, and Subway just to name a few. Other than that, there aren't too many (fast) food places nearby. There's Teddy Burger, which is a short walk around the corner, but if you're looking for a McDonald's, Burger King, etc. you'll have to walk several blocks to find one. Either way, the food prices in Hawaii are somewhat expensive, so your selection really won't matter price wise. A typical hamburger, french fries, and beverage meal will run you close to, if not more than $10. Here's a food tip!!! ABC Pharmacy, which is pretty much on every corner in Honolulu has these great hot dogs for $0.99, They're pretty good, plus you can grab one on the go. This place is also good for some of your souveneir and beverage options.

Other than the location and dining options, I found the hotel to be relatively average. Their state of the art security system requires that you use your room key to go up on the elevator which can become a pain, but better safe than sorry. One gripe is that when my husband and I got up in the middle of the night (around 4 am) to see if we could find something to eat, the elevators were not fully operational. We waited approx. 15-20 minutes for the elevator to come to our floor, along with others who were waiting with their luggage and decided to try the stairs (from the 15th floor)!

As many of the other reviewers mentioned, their FREE morning breakfast offering gives this hotel an advantage, BUT if you're a meat eater this is not the place for you. The breakfast is mainly continental, with one or two added selections, but don't look for much more. It's very filling and serves its purpose, plus you can get as much as you like! Some of the selections are rather atypical, but chalk it up to experiencing something new. Oh, and unless you're looking to break the bank, I would not recommend the hotel restaurant, Tiki's. It's rather pricey, and I'd say that you could find several other good restaurants within a short walking distance for about the same price, or much less.

The hotel pool was small and a few people used it or sat out on the patio and tanned, but if you'omplaining about the hotel pool, why in the heck did you go to Waikiki, which is known for its beach?

Other than that, I'd say the hotel is just about average. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to gripe about either. It has several advantages in terms on convenience and proximity to food and fun. Besides, who goes to Hawaii to stay in the hotel room anyway. Overall, I'd say it's a good place to stay and I'd probably stay there again.

“Good Stopover”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

Location - The hotel is located on Kalakaua Avenue which is the busy main road along the beach front. About 20 minutes travel time by taxi from Honolulu Airport. Walking time to the main shopping centre is 15 – 20 minutes. Local buses pass by the hotel to all parts of the island and there are free shuttle buses to various local shopping centres including Hilo Hatties. Waikiki beach is directly opposite the hotel.

Description – a high rise 27 storey building accommodating a large number of visitors – 800 or so? Rooms at the side have unrestricted views of the Pacific and Waikiki beach and Honolulu Town or Diamond Head Point. The reception area is on the first floor and reached by escalator or elevator. As a security measure a room key card is needed to operate the elevators. Next to the reception area is an outdoor pool which, when I was there, was in the shade until mid afternoon. There are a good number of sun loungers – but most people seemed to prefer to head for the beach.

Services – Breakfast is included in the room price. The concept is “Breakfast on the Beach”. Clearly the hotel could not cope with such a large amount of guests wanting to take breakfast in a “traditional” restaurant setting. The arrangement is that a hot and cold buffet is laid out on the terrace, guests are provided with a yellow box – they collect whatever food and drink they want and then take it away to their rooms – to the beach or wherever. Complimentary beach towels are provided and occasional free soft drinks are available.

Tiki’s award winning restaurant is also open for breakfast (at a cost) and for lunch and dinner. Breakfast and dinner are accompanied by Hawaiian style live music. Apart from the other hotel restaurants I thought that the dining options in this part of town were rather limited.

There is a small convenience store located on the ground floor within the hotel and outside there are numerous ABC stores selling most things.
All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room – Mine was on the 23rd floor with unrestricted ocean and Honolulu town views. The “electronic key” was a nuisance and every time took several attempts before the door would open. Not very spacious but it did have to accommodate a king size (comfortable) bed. 2 chairs and table, and a large unit holding an impressive flat screen TV. Room décor leant towards the Hawaiian with a dramatic headboard. Reasonable bathroom with the usual complimentary toiletries. Other decoration was clean and good standard “corporate” hotel style. Lighting could have been brighter and so annoying to have to get out of bed to turn off lights! Air conditioning an absolute necessity in this location worked efficiently. Balcony (lanai) was equipped with a chair and footrest – neighbours next to and below seemed very close!

Overview – A good location having views of Waikiki beach. This hotel is very large with many guests therefore not ideal for a quiet or romantic get away. Like most things in Hawaii the hotel is not cheap but it does have the advantage of having breakfast included in the room rate. I was travelling from Eastern Australia to Western United States and this was an ideal place to break the journey for a few days’ sun and relaxation.

“Had to pay to use the inroom safe!”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

Not too impressed with the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel - sure it has its kitsch Hawaiian style rooms all brightly decorated but the fact that there is little or no room to even leave your suitcase open was inconvenient. It has undergone a poor makeover - the baths were still stained with enamel missing. Paid over $300 NZ a night for an ocean view room - the lanai was small and only had one chair with no sun at any time of the day. Had to pay to use the in room safe at $3.00 USD plus tax a day. Enjoyed a nice drink at Tiki's the hotel bar until a glass shattered over another table looked like it had been thrown from a room above. One good thing was the guys at valet parking were superb. Booked for 8 nights - stayed 6!

“Best vacation ever”

Best vacation ever. Hotel was in an excellant location, very well maintained and staff was super to work with. Breakfast on the beach was great, but we ate by the pool. There was something different to pick from everyday. Most all the tour companies pick you up in front of the hotel. We had a partial ocean view room and the view was very beautiful. This was our 25th Wedding Anniversary could not have been in a better place. Excellant hotel for the location and price.
