“Not a full service hotel”

Waikiki Parc Hotel

Very disappointing stay here in January. Location is not bad - it looks over the entrance to the Halekulani Hotel (owned by the same people), and THAT hotel is fabulous. Had several meals there, so it was a convenient walk across the street.

Major complaints are to do with service. The concierge was
totally useless in giving advice on which bus to take to various places in Waikiki. Basically gave me the phone number for The Bus, and didn't offer to call himself. There is a coffee maker in the room, and there were two tea bags to choose from - Earl Grey and Green tea. When I asked at the front desk for something else, they said that's all they had. No regular
English breakfast or other black tea. There is very limited room service - for breakfast only "boxed" breakfasts. The restaurant within the hotel is only open for breakfast till 9 a.m.

The decor of the lobby is very stark and unwelcoming.
The guest rooms were more pleasant but need updating.
Bathroom was small, but with nice amenities.

Wouldn't stay here again.

I really enjoyed staying here. This is a different part of Waikiki than I normally stay in and enjoyed the different shops and proximity to the beach. The staff was wonerful and the rooms were outstanding for the price. Nice a modern!! loved it...

“Enjoyable Stay at WP”

Waikiki Parc Hotel

I was surprised to read about other travelers' bad experiences with the service at WParc. I found the staff (including the restaurant staff at breakfast, front desk, concierge and porters) to be very friendly and helpful during my entire stay. Granted, that could be partly due to the fact that most locals think I'm a local. Also, as it was my 8th trip to Waikiki I did not need as much assistance from the front desk or concierge regarding what to do, where to go or how to get there. But I have absolutely no complaints about the service.

My room was nice and I was happy with it, though it wasn't anything outstanding. I was in a 22nd floor deluxe mountain view room and also found the early morning garbage truck, etc. noises to be annoying. Luckily I'm an early riser anyway. WParc would do well to upgrade their windows.

A few minor things I found annoying:
-- Card scanners in the elevators were very finicky. Often, I had to re-insert the card a number of times before getting the green light to press the floor button. Also, the access cards do not indicate which end to insert. I often encountered confused and frustrated guests in the elevators.
-- TV remote control buttons had to be pressed hard.
-- Computer keyboard in the business center was finicky (keys stuck) so it took longer to type emails without typos, thereby unnecessarily using up some of my paid time on the computer.

A nice little convenience was being able to pick up beach mats, towels and cold bottles of water from the porters' desk and not having to buy them.

Overall, I quite enjoyed my stay at WParc and would be happy to stay there again.

“Excellent Service”

When I went to Hawaii, I didn't have the option of chosing my hotel because I had won the trip on Wheel of Fortune, but I figured the hotel would at least be a nice facility. This hotel was absolutely great. It is located right across the street from the beach but in the heart of everything tourism. We had a room with a balcony and a beautiful view of the beach as did my sister. We were there for a week and when you are somewhere for so long you tend to eat out and sometimes have leftovers. The rooms did not come equip with a microwave, however the front desk staff was so lovely. The warmed our food for us whenever asked. The concierge (or bell hops) were so friendly and nice. They told us the best way to get to every place we wanted, they even suggested things for us to do. When we went to the beach the concierge gave us mats, towels, water, and umbrellas. I would definitely stay there again.

“Room 1714 Great location and friendly staff service - bring earplugs”

Waikiki Parc Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Los Angeles, California
Feb 29, 2008

Stayed here for 3 nights in mid-February during Pan Am Soccer week when hotel of choice nearby was full. Stylish lobby, and then the battle with the elevator security card keys begins to get to your floor. Ask for two sets of keys and expect to turn them in periodically when they don't work in the elevator or your hotel room door. Room was ok - city view cheapest level with nice bathroom and toiletries. Free room safe, and bless them, an empty mini fridge that actually kept drinks and snacks chilled! Didn't need to beg to have the mini bar cleaned out like most hotels I stay in.

Room wear and tear visibile with cracked floor tiles and some scuffs on the furniture but quite serviceable with plenty of drawers and closet with ironing board and iron. Another smart thing - the duvet is cotton instead of down. Don't understand why so many hotels in hot climates think guest are impressed by down duvets so you can sweat all night.

If you have time and the budget skip eating the boring breakfast here and go across the street to the Halekulani for the fabulous buffet, ditto drinks at sunset.

Things you'll need to stay here - earplugs that damped the chorus of dumpsters being emptied, delivery trucks going into the Sheraton next door and tour bus backing up that start at 6AM. The empty bottles get emptied at nearby restaurants and hotels between 3am - 4am. And then the construction crew arrives at nearby hotel being revamped and starts precisely at 7am. If you are an early riser this is fine, but don't plan on sleeping in. Also the plantations shutters don't really block out the light so bring a sleep mask along too.

Do not get into a taxi anywhere in the city unless you know that the driver A) speaks a few words of English and B) is carrying change. Take lots of small bills with you in case of B. Also limo drivers hang around the hotel with vulgar large cars seeing short trip customers to earn some cash. No meters, so if you take a limo be sure to agree on price up front. Drivers not very friendly and the cars cannot get in an out of driveways easily so opt for the metered taxis once you know the driver speaks English
