Our family of 5 really enjoyed this hotel. Renovation is complete, and I'd recommend this hotel to friends. Our room was very big and comfortable. With 2 teens, 2 adults and an 11 year old, we appreciate the larger rooms! Furnishings, carpet, & bedding were up-to-date and in great shape. The bathroom was perfect and fresh, with a large tub/shower area. The vanity outside the bathroom had a large counter area with plenty of room for all of us to use. Two TVs make finding entertainment for everyone easy! The small microwave and refrigerator were great for our snacks.
The ground level has a beautiful tiled floor and a fountain too. Very pretty decor with a Southwest flair. The breakfast buffet area is large and has lots of tables. The hotel was full while we were there, and the staff did a great job maintaining clean tables and the space. Be sure to get to breakfast before the last 30 minutes of serving ... they tend to pare down the food on the buffet line then, but you can always get eggs, pancakes and omelets made fresh for you from the "omelet" line. Our family had plenty of choices each day and left satisfied. The coffee was especially good at this hotel! They even had a soda station at breakfast, so I could have a Diet Coke too. We had two different chefs at the "omelet" line during our 5 night stay ... both were fast and friendly. We were at the hotel during one "manager's reception" time, and we enjoyed the snacks and drinks before getting ready for dinner.
The staff was very nice and helpful. This hotel does have a business center with two public access computers for the Internet and a printer to use ... so I could print out my boarding passes for our departure. We did not use the wi-fi service, as it does cost extra.
There are 4 small elevators, and each hold maybe 8 people, so mornings could be slow to get one for breakfast. We took the stairs down from the 7th floor (there are 8 floors) most mornings, so it became a non-issue for us.
The hotel is not far from the SA airport, and it easily accessed from I-10. Roads are a little confusing in SA, but the hotel staff was able to give us clear directions for us to drive from the airport right to the hotel. Parking is free at this hotel, and it is quite ample. We did not personally use the hotel pool, but we did walk through the room and found it clean although it is a small pool. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to choose from, although we also ate in downtown areas throughout the week.
We traveled down to Riverwalk and downtown SA several times during the week, and it's easy to get to from this hotel. Get a good map from the rental car company or from a travel guide, and it's fine! You can be down at Riverwalk in less than 15 minutes. We traveled to Sea World, Boerne, and New Bransfelds during the week too, and all were pretty easy to do. More signs directing you to as to which way to go for the Interstates would have been better throughout SA, but we learned where to go without many problems.
