“Lovely staff, couldn't do enough for us”

Cala Rosa Hotel

We stayed in the Cala Rosa the BH weekend August 2006 and although I agree that the hotel does have entertainment and the rooms are rather basic, the communcal areas make up for this as does the breakfast. We spent most of our days out travelling so did not really experience the entertainment, but we did see a lot of happy childern and we found the complex to be quiet during our stay.

What makes this hotel for me is the staff. They are just great, they cannot do enough for you, so I am really sorry to hear about some of the bad reviews as we came back from what was a really great long weekend at the Cala Rosa! Ps don't expect 4 star luxury though. This really is closer to a 3 Star... But great value!!

“Loved it...must be better out of season!”

Had I read the reviews prior to booking I wouldn't have gone but fortunately I didn't! I was travelling with a friend and we loved the Cala Rosa.

We arrived 17 Sept and found the hotel to be really quiet, the staff really friendly, the beach gorgeous and the pizza place at the bottom of the hill delicious!

The room was large, airy, clean and quiet and there was no sign of the music or entertainment mentioned in the other reviews. I would definately recommend this hotel but maybe after peak season unless you have kids!

“This is no 4 star hotel at all, be aware of noisy "entertainment"”

Cala Rosa Hotel

We stayed in Cala Rosa recently and on arrival it was clear that this is by far not a 4 star hotel; I think it just about represents three stars at a push. The hotel is basic, not very well maintained and the staff are not the friendliest or very helpfull (found that of most people around this area). The worse thing was the so called entertainment, which was loud (very loud) and lasted until 23.30 each night (we had a room near the pool for the first two nights and the music drove us mad) - we changed to the oterh side of the hotel which was better but there was still no getting away from the noise....and then they try to make you pay about €27 pp extra for this "service" - not my cup of tea!

The only good thing was that the rooms were kept (very) clean and the the food in the restautant was OK (not great but not bad either).

All in all, not a great hotel. The Stintino area does not seem to be very pretty or interesting either, however...the beach (La Paloma) and the sea are just fantastic - so clear and clean.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Not much really, the romms were clean and the beach was not too far away (by car)
    • Disliked — Noisy Entertainment, basic rooms, pool was not kept clean
    • Tips/Secrets: — avoid

“Clearly not worth 4 stars”

Cala Rosa Hotel

2 of 5 stars

I just come back from Sardinia and stayed 3 nights in this hotel with my girlfriend. I completely agree with the previous review. This is far from a 4 star hotel. I am not sure I would even give them 3 stars.

The only thing we found really nice were the gardens and the area around the swimming pool.

The rooms are very basic and not so clean. We asked for a room with a sea view (which cost extra money). In order to see the sea we had to stand on a chair in front of the window. At first we thought that they had made a mistake so we asked to change room but it was exactly the same in the other "sea view" room.

One of the reason we chose this hotel is because it had a tennis court. We tried to play twice but the staff could not find the net which had not been used for several weeks... Finally on our last day they found it and we managed to play for an hour.

The worst thing was the very loud music all day long. My girlfriend and I had a very hard time to find a quiet place where to stay in the hotel. We used the swimming pool only between 1pm and 2pm (when the kids were at lunch). The music was on until around midnight every day. We both love kids and understand that this is more a place for families rather than couples but we found it was really abusive.

There is a buffet for lunch and dinner. The food was ok (although clearly not worth 4 stars) but you have to make sure you arrive on time and take all your dishes to your table in one go (including the dessert) otherwise all the good things are gone within 10 minutes. In other word it is first come first served.

Although we had a very good time in Stintino I am glad we only stayed in this hotel for 3 days.

I definitely won't recommand it for a couple. It is ok for families with small kids if you are ready to put on with the VERY LOUD music all day long.

“Welcome to Butlins”

Cala Rosa Hotel

This hotel is so far from a 4 star hotel it is laughable. II would only really recommend it to families who like loud entertainment and don't mind basic and slightly shabby accommodation

Location
It is about 15 minutes walk to the private beach although a shuttle bus will take you there and is very regular

Room
Very old fashioned, the rooms were very basic and didn't feel massively clean. Our was swarming with mosquitoes when we arrived and the shower door wouldn't open or close properly

Grounds/pool
The grounds were nice enough but had a random sprawling feel to them. In the middle of the grounds there would be some plastic childrens playground toys thrown together. The pool was a nice shape but was set in between all the rooms and felt a little motelish. There is "Animation" during the day by the pool (see below for what this entails)

Entertainment
BE WARNED, Hotel Cala Rosa has a love for "Animation" this appears to be a collection of songs and woeful comedy skits perfromed by the reps. Not only is the music awful but it is extremely loud. Our room was as far away from the animation as it could possibly be but it sounded as through we were next to it. For families wanting some fun this is fine but me and my girlfriend wanted a quiet night after a long days travelling and the music went long into the night

Staff
Very friendly, tried there best

Stintino/La Pelosa
Unbelievable beach and lovely town. Once we changed hotels we were very happy here
