For a three star hotel- this one was tops! I was weary of staying in a 3 star hotel for a planned get-away for my husband's birthday, I wanted something special, but we couldn't afford a 4 star so soon after xmas. This hotel was PERFECT for the price!! The entrance is rather elegant with the grand staircase and fireplace sitting room. The deskman, Chris, was very friendly and so helpful! We had room 207 (1 queen), it didn't have a view, nor was it big, but it was very quiet and perfect for what I was looking for. The tall ceilings were impressive and the ammenities were nice. I had to call down for a shower cap and Chris had it ready to go for me. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. We dined at the Plough and The Stars (irish cuisine- and you can dress up) which was a block away. Visited the usual Olde City attractions. Had a drink at the classy Society Hill bar (just a block from the hotel as well). We had fun playing checkers beside the warm fire when we returned. The afternoon tea was nice.. cookies and tea (informal). The breakfast was GREAT! I wasn't expecting so much from a 3 star. Make your own Belgium waffles with strawberry compost/syrup. Fresh fruits, bagels, muffins, cereal, ETC in a skylit room. Very refreshing way to start the morning. Very comfortable place. No party kids, and not too stuffy.
I will note that the shower could have been more clean (some mildew spots on the wallpaper), but really that's my only complaint if any.
