My husband and I stayed here with our 6yr. old daughter while in town to visit family. When we travel we really like having a seperate bedroom from the main area of our room, which usually means having to get a suite, or connecting rooms. After checking out several hotels I wound up booking at AKA, having heard about the hotel from a friend. It was the perfect choice.
The hotel seems geared to the business traveler and advertises as an extended stay, but it is GREAT for a family. Great location, lots of space, seperate bedrooms with very comfortable beds and full kitchens with a dishwasher! The bathrooms were on the small side but spotless. There was plenty of closet and dresser space and even a linen closet with extra towels. It has a very boutique feel and seems more like an upscale apartment building than a hotel. There is no on site restaurant or lounge but some of the best restaurants (and shopping) in the city are literally right outside the door. I believe they have an arrangement with a nearby restaurant for room service as I saw their menu in our room. There is no doorman/valet but when we arrived at 11pm, Joe from the front desk came outside to greet us at the taxi and brought our bags up. The staff was very pleasant and seemed eager to help. There was a continental breakfast in the lounge each morning with fruit, coffee/tea, yogurt, pastries and the local paper. The location is great, right across from the park. You could walk to the museums from here. The only negative was a construction site across the street and apparently Philly doesn't have any noise ordinance? The rooms have lots of windows and we heard construction noise even at night. Otherwise, the hotel itself was very quiet . I will definitely return to this hotel when in Philly.
