“Good hotel & location”

Hampton Inn Philadelphia Convention Center

4 of 5 stars
Virginia
Mar 24, 2008

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 4 & 6) stayed in a 2 double room over Easter weekend. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the convention center and Reading Terminal Market. It was a longer walk to the Franklin Institute but still manageable. Parking is about 100 yards up the street in an uncovered lot but the price was very reasonable ($20/night) compared to others we'd looked at.

The complimentary breakfast was very good - fresh fruit, hot waffles and the usual collection of yogurt, cereals, muffins, etc. The room itself was fine - we found the walls to be a little thin and could hear some activity around us but it was very clean and well maintained. It was a little small but was fine for our purposes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We checked out the pool but didn't go in - the pictures on the website make it look bigger than it is but we did see a lot of people using it.

“Wonderful”

This is the nicest place I have ever stayed. The people went out of their way to help you. We were allowed to check in early, while we were there our plans changed and they allowed us to check out later. The valet parking was great, we went to a show the last day we were there. They asked when we would be back and my car was waiting for us. They kept our luggage until we got back, the doormen could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We were treated like royalty. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know. The rooms were nice and clean. The hotel was very nice and the free breakfast was very nice. I can not say enough nice things about our stay.

“Never had a room with bloody fingerprints before!”

Hampton Inn Philadelphia Convention Center

1 of 5 stars
Pennsylvania
Mar 15, 2008

My two young daughters and I went to Philly to attend the American Idol concert and spent one night at this hotel. I selected it by price, location, and what was an acceptable rating on various websites. The positives: it was within easy walking distance to the subway, with a direct line to the concert arena; the lobby was clean; there was a free breakfast; it was adjacent to Chinatown, which we visited the next day. The negatives: there actually were bloody fingerprints on the toilet seat!; a mostly used toilet paper roll and no new roll in the room; a half eaten cookie partially under the bed; no parking structure; great-looking but bad-tasting breakfast (my kids wouldn't eat the funny tasting fresh fruit salad). Fortunately, we weren't in the room much. I reported the problems the next morning (which we discovered after the concert at about 1 am, so I wasn't about to start switching rooms) and basically was given a short apology and a shrug.

“Hampton Inn - great value!”

Hampton Inn Philadelphia Convention Center

4 of 5 stars
Massena, NY
Feb 25, 2008

We stayed at the Hampton Inn on 2/21 for two nights. Our daughter was visiting Drexel University, so we received the Drexel price of $89/night. Our room, located on the 7th floor, had two double beds. Check in was good. When I requested a room with a nice city view, the girl at the reception desk said there was construction going on by the "city view" rooms. So we chose the other side of the hotel and the view was fine. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The only problem with the room was the heater would occasionally make a rattling noise, but we ended up just running the fan at night. The buffet breakfast, which was included in the price, was OK. One morning eggs and breakfast sausage patties were the hot foods featured. The other morning a kielbasa-type meat and waffles were the hot foods. Always available were yogurt, muffins, bagels, English muffins, cereal, canned fruit, juices, coffee, and toast. The hotel was ideally located; two blocks from Drexel (medical building), a 20 min. walk to Independence Hall and a 5 min. walk to Reading Terminal Market. Many restaurants and bars close by. We ate at Moriarty's Irish Pub/Restaurant - excellent! There was a concierge available in the lobby. We used the valet parking which is $20 (plus $3 tax). Our car was always ready within 20 min. I would definitely stay at this Hampton again, esp. for this price.

“Nice place”

Hampton Inn Philadelphia Convention Center

Feb 24, 2008

I stayed here for 4 nights in January, 2008 while attending a conference at the adjacent Pennsylvania Convention Center. I arrived around 10 a.m. because I had taken a red-eye flight. I was pretty tired and asked to check-in early. The front desk staff were very kind and they got me checked into a room within about 45 minutes.

The hotel was clean, the wireless internet access worked very well, and the complimentary breakfast food and service were quite good as well.

The hotel is located right across the street from the convention center and within easy walking distance of some excellent restaurants, the Reading Terminal Market, and important historic sites like City Hall. It is also very close to public transit, including the rapid train line from the airport.

This hotel was a good value. I would consider staying here again.
