“Enjoyed the stay very much”

Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia

Mar 16, 2008

We came to Philly to see My Fair Lady, and booked a package rate at the RC for $389 which included bfast for two and a $50 dining credit.
From the moment we drove up to the hotel to the moment we left, service was excellent, and fully met our expectations from an RC. Was the best ever customer service we got? No. But I'd be overly picky if I were to be critical. Everyone was very courteous and friendly.
The room we had was a corner room XX02, so there was lots of light. It was spacious too. The furniture was good quality. Color scheme subdued yet classy. Bathroom was large, with separate shower and bath. Toiletries first rate with Bulgari. Flat screen TV, likely 32 inch. Wired and wireless internet. Two phones, one cordless. Coffeemaker in room, and lots of (we hope) complimentary bottled water. In-room safe. Some furnishing not 100% perfect, as the photos may show, with one a/c vent loose and some wires dangling from the shades in the bathroom. But really, folks, nothing really serious. The room was very nice.
Turndown service came when we were still in the room, but the nice lady offered us chocolates. With a smile.
We had dinner at the Grill. First rate. Menu was simple. But very nicely done. Service was very good.
Breakfast also at the Grill. Can't complain.

Lobby is being renovated right now. But we knew that going in.

All in all, a very good stay.

Located in the center of an old bank building this lobby is over the top. We enjoyed tea upon arrival and cocktails in the evening in the wonderful setting.

“We loved it”

Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia

We had stayed here once before and had a similar experience: incredibly comfortable bed, clean, clean, clean, quiet, and a heart-stopping view of City Hall directly across the street. Not to mention the adorable "fireplace" on the wide screen tv that greets you if you check in in the evening. Great room service, too.

“Great hotel, mediocre dinner”

Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia

My husband and I spent a night at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia because he had a business meeting in the area. We found the hotel to be excellent. All staffers were friendly, from the bell hops to the desk clerks, to housekeeping and room service. Everyone greeted us with a smile and took great care of us.

We were upgraded to a larger room. There was some noise from the exhaust fans a few floors below us, but it was not too intrusive. Besides, we had been upgraded for free, so I wasn't about to complain. Our room was very clean and spacious with the amenities you'd expect from a Ritz - comfortable bed, Bulgari toiletries, flat-screen TV, clock radio with an iPod connector, nicely stocked mini bar, etc.

I ordered a simple lunch for myself (soup and a cheeseburger) through room service while my husband was at his business function. The food was good and arrived quickly. We had drinks in the lobby lounge before dinner. They were very crowded that evening, so service was a little slow, but friendly.

We had dinner in the hotel's main restaurant and I have to say, it was disappointing. Our appetizers were just OK, but our entrees were lacking. I had a shrimp dish served over risotto and my husband had a poached fish entree. Both were bland and my shrimp was undercooked for my taste. The risotto had an off flavor to it that I can't really describe. The service was excellent, however. The food...not so much.

We also had breakfast in the same restauant the following morning, which was much better. The fresh juice of the day was a very yummy mixed berry. The breakfast was very good. The restaurant is a safe bet for breakfast or a simple lunch, but I'd recommend you go off site for dinner. We overheard a staffer telling some other folks that the restaurant was closing soon for renovations, so maybe that had something to do with the lackluster dinner experience.

Overall, it was a very nice stay and we would definitely consider this hotel again next time we are in the area.
