“Don't Stay, Cheap, Old, lack of Security”

Windsor Suites

Jan 16, 2008

I stayed at Windsor Suites, Philadelphia, PA. and checked in Jan., 2008 an unfortunately I checked out 2 days later (suppose to be a 5 day business trip) because of problems at this hotel.

On Tuesday night I returned to my room to find the door to my hotel room ajar (propped open). I immediately told the front desk. They did not check the room but just said “Sorry”. No offer of compensation was made. I asked to speak to a manager the font desk told me no manager was on duty except her who was a supervisor. She could not do any thing. I would have to talk to James Brown the general manager in the morning. The front desk called me latter that night again said sorry and explained that it was a senior house keeper. They were upgrading the dishware and the housekeeping supervisor is the one who left your door open. It was not done in normal cleaning. I was given the assurance this would not happen again. No compensation offered.

It is hotel policy not to put night chain or flip lock on the door. The manager said they do not have them but if I wanted one he would install one. He did have one installed on my door right away. But would not and did not see any need to compensate me for the lack of security in the building and screw up by your staff.

In the room it says 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed. One of my other business associates has a dead bolt on his door that does not work. He has no way to properly lock his room. He told the front desk the first night and it is still not fixed after 5 days. My other business friend does not have a lock on his sliding class door. Another business associates had his roof leak because of the old leaky and rusted out pipes in the building. The walls are paper thin. I can hear every word of both my neighbors’ telephone conversations. I have tried to contact the management company that owns the hotel but they too do not see the need to respond.

This is the cheapest hotel around and the hotel don’t care what people think because they know because of the price many other people who will fill the vacancies. I always say you get what you pay for. This was not my choice of hotels.

I will not stay in Windsor Suites again for any reason. I have moved out to another hotel which is much better. I just looked online for reviews of the hotel and they were not glowing, that’s for sure. Other people online have had various problems as well with the Windsor Suites as well. Now the management is trying to blame the whole thing on me.

“More than decent--but those bathrooms!”

Windsor Suites

4 of 5 stars
Austin, TX
Jan 16, 2008

Like others, I feel that this is a decent or better choice, given the price, excellent location for conventioneers or tourists, free breakfast, friendly staff, and newspaper every day including weekends (wish they all did this). However, two stays in recent years have convinced me that management needs to bite the bullet and renovate the bathrooms and closets. The bathrooms have been patched up and it shows badly. People don't want to see decaying caulk and badly patched tile. Time to get on it!

“Satisfactory at best, better hotels nearby”

Windsor Suites

Jan 13, 2008

I stayed at this hotel in the 2nd weekend of Jan for a weekend with my family (2 kids under 5). Had booked here at the last minute since I found out I had a convention to attend to. Booked a suite - which turned out to be a misnomer since there is only 1 single room with a tiny kitchennette stuck on 1 side of the room. The room was spacious since these are former apartments converted into a hotel. The spaciousness was great since both kids loved to play around in the room. The rooms have a slight musty smell (perhaps due to recent painting). The beds were decent and cutlery in the kitchen was a real help. The plumbing is old ( we had to call since we were not getting hot water) and the thermostat for the heating seemed to be from the 1980's.

The hotel is very conveniently located and kids had a ball at the nearby "Please Touch" museum. There is a Wava grocery store around the corner, a Subway, Dunkins Donut & TGI's around the hotel (less than 1 block). The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful - not enough to make up for the dinghy hotel hallways. Breakfast was a-ok (equivalent to a Quality Inn breakfast). If you paid as much as I did ($200+) you will find a better quality stay at the nearby Embassy Suites or the Sheraton.
Overall, it was a less than decent stay and the size of the room & convenient location do not make up for the less than plesasant experience. Wont be going back there again.

“Good choice, no doubt about that”

I stayed for one night in the Windsor Suites. I opted for this hotel because of the location near the suburban railwaystation. You are really in downtown Philadelphia and I thought it's a perfect location. When I checked in they told me that I had to wait for a non-smoker room so I took a smoker room. The room was really big and spacious and there is everything what you need for a long stay. The bathroom looked somewhat worn but it was clean. There is free wireless internet and even free popcorn! Altough I stayed for just one night I found the fridge very useful. There are some places nearby to buy food and drink such as a seven-eleven. Their business centre is also good, there are 2 computers and printing is free. And don't forget the free breakfast which is awesome. Altough the hotel looks somewhat old and worn (but absolutely not dirty) I would opt for this hotel again on my next visit.

“Got what we expected”

Windsor Suites

Dec 30, 2007

Stayed here 2 nights with family 12/27-29 2007. Hotel in Great location, short walk to many museums, approx 1 mile from Independence Hall/ Visitors ctr.

Positive things about our stay:
- 1 BR suite with pullout in LR was perfect for our family of 5 (they also brought us up a cot upon request.)
- Very reasonable rates
- Breakfast included
- Location great
- Onsite valet parking
- Actual room in excellent condition- modernized and clean

Negative things:
- Hallways were smelly and drab
-Only 3 small elevators for fairly substantial hotel- very crowded at peak hours
- No ondemand / video game offerings on tv's.

Overall, we would go there again, mainly because suites like this are difficult to find in the center of a major metro area like Phila.
