We stayed at the Sheraton Society Hill from Saturday, April 12th through Tuesday, April 15th and paid $60/night plus 4,000 Starwood Points. Parking was around $25/day on the weekend & $28/day during the week with in & out privileges. We never moved our car the whole time we were there as it was so convenient to everything. When we wanted a cab, the blue light was turned on outside the hotel and a cab arrived within a minute!
We stayed on the 4th floor looking over the Delaware River - it was a very quiet room, no complaints! Our first room we were assigned was on the same floor but close to the elevator & looking down on the courtyard/atrium lobby area. We did not like the lack of privacy for that particular room, as people coming & going down the hall could look in (although the glass was tinted) - and one would have to keep the curtains drawn for privacy - and then there would be no natural light!
The best thing about the 4th floor & having our Starwood card was that we had access to the Club Room. Breakfast daily from about 7AM - 10AM, and hors d'oeuvres from 5PM-8PM nightly! Plus the pool was on the 4th floor, which made it easy access for our two kids, ages 11 & 13. The hall did smell like chlorine, but our room did not. They loved the pool, and there were plenty of towels.
I loved the breakfast - besides Starbuck's coffee, there was all sorts of Tazo teas, Nestle's Dark Hot Chocolate, sweet orange juice and cranberry juice in glass pitchers, yogurt, Quaker oatmeal assorted packets with brown sugar & raisins in bowls next to the microwave. Fresh fruit was whole bananas, oranges, and apples. Little boxes of cereal (lots of sweet ones - kids loved that) but also had Cheerios and two kinds of Total. Whole milk and skim milk. Also toast, mini muffins. Most of the bread looked a little 'dry' but I toasted my bagel a little and it was fine! Little jellies, too! Bottled water and 4 or 5 kinds of soda in cans which was nice as you could take your water for the day. There was also bottled water in the room the first day.
The hors d'ouvres were wonderful - the first night there was cheese tortellini & chicken strips in an alfredo-type sauce - delicious! The second night was pasta in a red sauce with boneless grilled chicken breasts. The third night was SEA BASS in a butter/milk light sauce which was wonderful!!! The food was kept stocked during the whole 3 hours. They also had little finger sandwiches & fresh fruit & drinks, too.
The concierge, Angelo, helped my husband get 2 GREAT tickets to the 76ers vs. Cavaliers basketball game, and gave perfect directions for them to take the subway down & back - which was no problem & saved them a $20 or so one-way cab ride!
There were 4 computers in the lobby that had internet access for the guests - we were allowed one hour of free access (not sure if it was 1 hour/day or 1 hour for the whole stay) - we used it several times to check theater times, etc. The connection was kind of slow but it did the job & was a nice feature as we do not have a lap top - and the hotel charges $10/day for internet access from your own computer!
The location was GREAT - very safe, near a ton of restaurants, all the historical sights. One day we took a cab to Ralph's Italian Restaurant for lunch, and decided to walk back as it was such a nice day. I guess it was about a mile walk back, but never seemed like it because we walked through Society Hill and on South Street and there was so much to see!
I would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting Philadelphia!
