we were also at the 21 club for pre theatre menu on Feb 25th, and found the place to be everything I had expected. I thought it would be a hassle to have to wear jacket and tie for a casual dinner, but in the end it added to the feeling sense of occasion and we had a great time. We chose the $38 pre theatre menu with three courses and tea/coffee and found it to be excellent value. Our bottle of wine ended up costing more than the dinner, and certainly it would be an expensive night if you ordered from the main menu at $40 a steak. Having said that the food was such that we might just treat ourselves when we go back next time - and I'm sure there will be a next time - as its rare treat to be able to find excellent food, outstanding service and a elegent touch of celebrity status under one roof

We had the pleasure of dining at 21 pre theater on February 25, 2005. It is very exciting for us to dine in a place where so much history was made and so many famous people dined regularly. The bar room downstairs is very popular and upstairs features more formal dining. Though the restaurant is over 70 years old, the food was up to date, the service as polished and professional as ever, and the crowd a mixture of the young and old. We have eaten at 21 three times in the past year and each time have had a wonderful, if pricey, meal. I enjoyed the braised short ribs this time, and in the past have had the 21 Burger and Sirloin Steak, all excellent. My wife had the salmon, one of three entrees featued on the price fixe pre theater menu, and she enjoyed it. Drinks are large and very professionally mixed. Desserts are a treat. The artwork is awesome, especially the Western artwork and the original Remingtons in the cocktail lounge. I look forward to many more happy dining experiences at 21 club.

The 21 Club. Nowhere like it in the world. I have been fortunate to dine in the best places in the world on Company business and only in the 21 Club could I relax. Everything is just perfect and sitting in front of the fire with glass in hand, what more could you ask for.

“Flies In My Food”

I hosted a business luncheon for three people on 10/4/04. There was a fly in the cream which was served with the coffee. There was a fly in the ice which came with my water. Although the maitre d' came over to apologize and offered us a glass of champagne each (we declined; we do not drink during business functions as we explained to the maitre d'), there was nothing further offered to me by way of compensation. As I was leaving, the maitre d' told me that the next time I came in to the restaurant lunch would be gratis, but refused to put his offer in writing.

They even charged me for the coffee!

I will not be giving this restaurant any future business.

I took my wife to the Upstairs restaurant at the 21 for our wedding anniversary and it was just fantastic.

We were given a private tour of their secret wine cellar which started the evening off beautifully. The food was memorable and the service was impeccable.

Highly recommended.
