My husband and I just returned from a six night stay at the Del Mar. The facility is absolutely stunning - the stone work and fabrics are breathtaking. If you have the good fortune (and it takes a small fortune) to stay here, be sure to pay attention to the details of your surroundings. The concierge service is phenomenal - you will be considered a friend by the end of your stay. My favorite meal was at Addison, my husband's was at Amaya - but neither one of us was disappointed either time. There is a cart path only rule at the golf course - not an imposition since you're on a cart with a fore caddy who's chasing down your ball. Because of this rule, the grass is in incredible shape. My only complaints? Due to their shape, the knives have trouble staying perched on the rim of the plate and the shower products are difficult to get out of the bottles. You know I was searching for something to complain about if that's all I could come up with!

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting the Grand Del Mar in late December/early January. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, and the staff members are cordial and attentive. We stayed in a suite overlooking the golf course, and it is obvious that no expense was spared in building the facility and furnishing it. All of the rooms are spacious and have plasma TVs (including the bathrooms.) From the lobby to the restaurants and lounges, to the shops and spa, to the pools and tennis courts, the attention to detail is amazing. This is a resort that obviously cares about pleasing its guests, and it succeeds brilliantly. If you're looking for the atmosphere and amenities of a luxury hotel without the attendant snootiness, the Grand Del Mar can't be beat.

I've had the opportunity to stay in several top-notch hotels both in the States and abroad: the Plaza in New York, The Met in London, a Days Inn in Paducah (okay, scratch that last one). The Grand Del Mar takes the best elements of all the hotels I've ever had the pleasure of temporarily calling home and rolls them into one excellent resort.

The rooms are large and luxurious, but not at all grandiose or "stuffy"; they're modern and comfortable. And oh, the amenities! Flat screen TVs in both the bedroom and the bathroom? Wonderful. (And really, who doesn't want to watch Spider-man while showering?) On both the large scale (a truly magnificent bathroom) and the small scale (iPod compatible alarm clocks), the rooms are fantastic.

The hotel itself is equally wonderful: the lobby bar is dark and inviting and the view from our balcony was stunning. In short, I give the Grand Del Mar my highest recommendation. If I could live there, I would. And I would start each day with the Addison restaurant's waffles with roasted pear. Yum.

This hotel is the most elegant we've ever experienced and it is brand new. The attention to detail, both in the rooms and in the common areas is amazing. We looked at the hotel website before booking, but the pictures really don't do it justice. It is so much nicer than the photos show. The rooms were ultra quiet. Although marble was used extensively throughout the hotel, you still had a feeling of warmth and home.

The service is outstanding. You can't use a towel or the bath salts without the staff replacing them for you. We never had to call for anything - ice, towels, bath gels, etc. were all replaced twice a day. Everyone seemed to know our names and seemed very eager to please. We can't say enough good things about this hotel. The golf course was in great shape. Even the food in the hotel restaurants was excellent. We didn't eat at Addison, for fine dining at the golf clubhouse, but apparently it is one of the top restaurants in the area. We did attend the New Year's Gala in the hotel and the food and wine were just amazing.
