We are Starwood Prefered members, so we stayed on the hotel using points. We were upgraded to a premium suite. We had a travel party of three. Two adults and a 6 year old child.
Negatives: The hotel aims to portrait a calm relaxing atmosphere however it hosts many events. So the lobby is often more a revolving door than a tranquil place. During our one week stay they hosted people for the Rock'N Roll Marathon, two High School proms, two large training events, and the Mexican National soccer team. With the later, the hotel was a mad house. For security reasons, all guests were hassled while arriving and withing the lobby.
There is no self-parking and we did not like to have to use the valet all of the time (at a cost of $30.00 per night). We stayed on a premium room and it was just OK. Our room was nothing special. There was no Disney channel. The pool was small and the surrounding pool area a mess at the end of the day (towels and food left everywhere). The shower had low water preasure. The bathroom had no lock. On our last day, the elevators were being worked on and the wait was 15 minutes. The toiled was loud and you had no trouble hearing your neighboors flush.
Location: The location is questionable. The hotel is about a block from a Greyhound station. A walk in the morning is not very relaxing as most of the poeople arround appear to be homeless.
Plus: The bed was AWESOME. The shower had two shower heads. There is a Starbucks in the lobby.
Note: During this trip we also stayed at the Marriott Marina. Between the two, I would definitely pick the Marriott Marina.
