“Central Location with Near the Uncommon Commons”

Radisson Hotel Boston

4 of 5 stars
Scottsdale, AZ
Jul 20, 2008

We travel a lot and are fairly fussy, and so we chose this one because of the Trip Advisor reviews. Our first requirement was a good location. Being in the Theater District and just a few blocks from the Commons, made this an excellent choice. It was a $22 cab ride from Logan Airport. The hotel is a 24 story high-rise with almost no amenities on the property. Except for the Cafe which had a bare-bones menu for all meals, you must go off-property for anything. But that's not a problem.
We like to eat breakfast in the room so used the coffee-maker and purchased muffins and bagels at the Duncan Donuts across the street. In City Place, there is also a food court and many local restaurants in the same general area and it also contains the subway/tube entrance for easy transportation. And there's even a 7-11 at the far end of the block. We opted for the Legal Seafood for dinner also across the street and wasn't disappointed.
The room was large and has a private balcony with amazing views from the higher floors. Ours was on the 19th and check our picture for the city view. The Select Comfort bed was great and the bathroom newly refurbished. There was hardly any street noise except for the occasional emergency vehicle. The hotel also has free Internet and a concierge that was quite helpful.
But the location is the true determining factor. We walked to the Prudential Center on one side and all the way to the Wharf on the other. Neither was more than half an hour at a slow pace. Don't miss the Freedom Trail walk or the Trolley tours that cover the historic sites. Tours can be picked up a block away. We would recommend this hotel for couples or families that need a central location for a relatively reasonable cost. Our final tip:Take your time to walk the entire Commons during the day and at night. It's a real treat!

“Average Hotel”

Radisson Hotel Boston

Jul 14, 2008

We stayed 3 nights at the Radisson Hotel Boston on Stewart Street. It was an average hotel. Not a lot of frills. It was a short, 4-5 block walk to the closest green "T" line, which made getting around the city convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and average size. Two adults and 2 children had lots of room. It did not have a refrigerator, which was a disappointment. The pool was cool, but the kids enjoyed it anyway. There was no spa for them to warm up. They had a small exercise room, next to the pool.

Radisson states they are a "green enviornment friendly hotel", but the housekeeping staff did not seem to understand what that means. I tried to use our towels for 3 nights, but every evening there were "fresh towels" for us to use, despite following their instructions to reuse them.

Overall I would stay there again if we were traveling to Boston. The hotel was convenient, staff were helpful and the room rates were reasonable, compared to other downtown hotels.

“Incredible View”

Radisson Hotel Boston

5 of 5 stars
San Jose, California
Jul 9, 2008

My Husband and I stayed here only one night at the end of our trip visiting friends for the July 4th weekend. We were on the 22 nd floor in room 2219. The room had such an incredible view of the Hancock building. I sat next to the sliding door and just gazed at the view. As another reviewer said, you don't really want to sit on the balcony, but its nice to go outside to take pictures. The bed was very comfy, a sleep number bed. I feel that I'm pretty picky now with beds, because we have a tempurpedic bed at home. Also the bathroom was nice too. We meant to try out the pool but didn't. The one thing the room didn't have was a fridge. We ended up taking a taxi to the airport for about $15 instead of trying to take the subway. We would have had to take 3 different trains, so we decided to take a taxi. The lady at the desk told my husband that they had a shuttle to the airport for $15 per person, we figured the taxi wouldn't be that expensive, and we were right!

“Loved the Radisson”

Radisson Hotel Boston

Jul 1, 2008

We spent 4 nights in the Radisson in early June. Originally we thought the hotel was in Cambridge so were delighted when we realised our mistake, and were actually right down-town.
The lobby may not be too snazzy but do not let appearances fool you. The room was huge with a separate lounge area with a 2nd huge TV. The bathroom was very modern with all the trappings you would expect from a four star.
Bed was extremly comfortable and the views of down-town Boston from both balconies was really amazing !!
I cannot fault this hotel on anything...we did not eat here so cannot comment on the food...location was excellent and all staff extremly helpful.
When we visit Boston again we will return to the Radisson.

“Main thing the room was a delight... the lobby less so”

Radisson Hotel Boston

4 of 5 stars

I stayed at the Radisson for 6 nights and enjoyed my room very much. The free internet access is a great asset and the friendly staff is most certainly even more so. I had some disagreement concerning room billing and the personnel was most forthcoming. Two things bothered me: the hotel atmosphere is the culmination of anonymity. Lobby practically nonexistent and you felt sort of out of place even sitting down waiting for a colleague. .. I would have enjoyed a drink/piano bar.. . Furthermore the outside of the buliding resembles the lobby atmosphere.... more like a multiple story parking house with elevators carrying the cars to the different floors with not a living soul around..... :-).
It is well situated in the downtown area.... I had a balcony overlooking beautiful Boston from the 21st floor but the balcony is in no way a place to put an armchair and enjoy the view .
Nevertheless: to cut a long story short: go for it.
