We travel a lot and are fairly fussy, and so we chose this one because of the Trip Advisor reviews. Our first requirement was a good location. Being in the Theater District and just a few blocks from the Commons, made this an excellent choice. It was a $22 cab ride from Logan Airport. The hotel is a 24 story high-rise with almost no amenities on the property. Except for the Cafe which had a bare-bones menu for all meals, you must go off-property for anything. But that's not a problem.
We like to eat breakfast in the room so used the coffee-maker and purchased muffins and bagels at the Duncan Donuts across the street. In City Place, there is also a food court and many local restaurants in the same general area and it also contains the subway/tube entrance for easy transportation. And there's even a 7-11 at the far end of the block. We opted for the Legal Seafood for dinner also across the street and wasn't disappointed.
The room was large and has a private balcony with amazing views from the higher floors. Ours was on the 19th and check our picture for the city view. The Select Comfort bed was great and the bathroom newly refurbished. There was hardly any street noise except for the occasional emergency vehicle. The hotel also has free Internet and a concierge that was quite helpful.
But the location is the true determining factor. We walked to the Prudential Center on one side and all the way to the Wharf on the other. Neither was more than half an hour at a slow pace. Don't miss the Freedom Trail walk or the Trolley tours that cover the historic sites. Tours can be picked up a block away. We would recommend this hotel for couples or families that need a central location for a relatively reasonable cost. Our final tip:Take your time to walk the entire Commons during the day and at night. It's a real treat!
