We loved Rainbow Inn. It was designed by someone with a wonderful sense of aesthetics and a true aloha spirit of hospitality. As others have indicated, there is a pool and an awesome view of Pearl Harbor. The studio has two levels to take full advantage of the view, and the space is artfully decorated. There are several sitting areas outside, each offering different experience of the harbor view and the landscaped property. Betty and Gene have provided everything one could possibly want or need in the bathroom, the kitchen, the beach equipment closet, and the information booklets that have been prepared. Another reviewer indicated that they could hear footsteps above; we could too, but it didn't bother us and certainly didn't disturb our sleep or our enjoyment of the experience.
A note on food: we live in NYC = good food is everywhere, anytime. After dinner at Monterey Seafood (the sweetest staff but awful food,) we quickly realized that we needed to plan -- we shopped at the nearby Times grocery and other places where local favorites are available, and enjoyed dinner by the pool, or we stopped in the middle of the day (loved the shrimp trucks on the North Shore) and ate lightly in the evening. Eating at "home," we could feast on the beauty of our view.. It was great.
We can't wait to return.
