Just got back from our stay at the Rainbow Inn and I see now why it got a 5-star "Excellent" rating from every other reviewer! It really is a great place to stay! The views are incredible, the pool is relaxing and private, and the location was easily accessible to everything! We loved being able to stock-up the kitchen with dinner things so we didn't have to eat out every night (unless you count eating dinner on the patio by the pool "eating out!") and they had all the supplies we could possibly need for going to the beach, taking a picnic lunch, etc. Tons of extra shampoo, lotions, and other toiletries as well in case you forgot anything! The accomodations are not fancy, but clean and practical. Our only (minor) complaint would be that we could hear Betty and Gene walking around upstairs and sometimes that was bothersome if we were trying to sleep in, but other than that we had no complaints!

My husband and I stayed at the Rainbow Inn for 9 days in July 2007. We went to Hawaii to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and to visit his family. Our flight was rescheduled and we ended up checking in much later than originally planned (around 11pm) but Betty was so gracious about it! She made our arrival so seamless and easy which we needed after that long trip! Both Betty and Gene give you as much privacy as you want. We didn't get a chance to talk to them that much as we were always on the go but when we did it was a pleasure. The apartment had everything we would have possibly needed including shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush and much more. The one thing that they didn't have was a hairdryer but luckily I had brought my own. The bed was very comfortable too! The view was breathtaking and we saw a rainbow most every morning we were there. I will definitely be staying at the Rainbow Inn on my next trip to Oahu.

We travelled to the Rainbow inn for our first trip to the Islands, 3/30-4/4/07. We have never stayed in a B&B before, but this place was far above and beyond our expectations. Beautiful place, quiet and peaceful, with privacy that you will not get in a hotel anywhere!
The place was immaculate and clean, with a full stock of everything from shampoo to paper plates. We needed for nothing on our stay, and can honestly say that we will be booking it again next year.
There were no drawbacks for us, but it is probably not the place to take a family of kids for a week. I feel it is geared more to couples, with the peace and scenery being second to none. The area of town that it is in is affluent, and well kept. No loud stereos or drive by traffic at all, probably one of the safer parts of Oahu to be in.
Our hosts were gracious, informative, and genuinley interested in our stay and sastisfaction while on the islands.
Driving in Honolulu is another story...take my advice..get GPS on your rental car.
Overall rating: top notch. I cannot think of anyplace I have stayed that is any better than the Rainbow Inn.

My wife and I had a great stay at Rainbow Nov 6-13. We appreciated the privacy but availability of Gene and Betty when desired. The view is unsurpassed and we loved the quick dips in the pool. The apartment is lovely(the entire downstairs of their home) and plenty of food available in the well supplied kitchen. Great location for sightseeing anyplace on Oahu with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby.
Overall a wonderful experience. Wouldn't think of staying anyplace else on Oahu!
