“Loved every second - if you do 1 thing on Maui - DO THIS!”

Having done the huge catamarans that take 150 of your closest friends out to Molokini a few years back I knew this time around I needed something different. Well we got it! Our family of 4 booked the 5 hour Molokini tour and it was incredible. I can't stop bragging to folks back home about how exciting it was and how it was THE BEST activity we did on all of Maui.

We had Capt. Brian (rhymes with Hawaiian) and his Co-capt Mike. They were hilarious! Cheesy but in such a great way if that makes sense. And ladies, I'd be a fool not to say it but they're hot which is such a bonus, right!

Right from the start they went over safety warnings, precautions and how best to sit on the boat etc. I read the other post where it sounds like some people got hurt so I was a bit worried before we went but I never found either of them to lack concern for our safety. They were certainly out to give us the thrill of a lifetime but they always put our safety first. They'll also tell you to sit in the back if you have a bad back because you don't feel the landing from the 7-10ft waves as much.

I sort of wish I had listened! I originally sat in the back because I have a tendency to get sea sick. We started out headed south and immediately you could see what they meant about feeling every wave and bump the boat went over. Halfway to the lava formations we stopped because there were tons of spinner dolphins swimming along side us. There were also a lot of sea turtles that they kept pointing out. Of course when I moved up to the front to take pictures I found that my seat in the back was quickly gone.

No big deal I thought - right - the ride here was nothing! Ok people then they really open her up!! They took off going over these waves and it was awesome! Was it bumpy - Yes! Will you get soaked - Yes! Did I think I was going to go flying off the boat when I was lifted at least 12" up in the air - Of Course! And just like they said it's a rough pounding when you come back down from the waves! All that being said - it was the best trip ever!!

I was scared to death and thrilled all at the same time. Just like a roller coaster, it was thrilling but I also knew I was in good safe hands.

After touring through the sea arches we stopped at La Peruse to snorkel for abut 20 min and it was ok. Not bad saw some cool fish but the clarity was nothing great - just ok. From there we headed to Molokini where we had an awesome spot! Clarity like you wouldn't believe and unlike last time I was there, we saw tons of fish everywhere!! By the time we arrived most of the morning boats had left or were on their way out. I wouldn't be surprised that it helped us see a few more fish when we snorkeled. After all, 1K + people had just left! If I was a fish I sure as heck would wait till they've gone!

We snorkeled two spots near Molokini and then their secret spot a short distance off. Whether it was a secret or not - it was awesome! They stopped the boat and did a drift dive. There was coral so they couldn't drop an anchor. It was incredible. We floated over all this coral and then just like they said you come over a mound of coral to a drop in the ocean that feels like the edge of the world - 400ft deep!

The ride back was a lot calmer which was a perfect ending to a really exciting day. They have dry storage sections but keep in mind you get so wet that these only keep your stuff mostly dry - I had a few things that were damp as I expected. Anything you can't allow to get wet should also go in a zip lock bag!

I never would have thought when we started out that the tour would be as fun or exciting as it was! Loved it!! Will definitely recommend it and return!!

“Best Adventure on the Water!!!”

Blue Water Rafting

Jun 12, 2008

This is the best 5 1/2 hrs in the Maui waters!!! We took the Kanaio Coast/Molokini tour and had a great time. Captain Ted and Dante are very knowledgeable about the sea caves and the marine life, also very entertaining. We saw dolphins, sea turtles and plenty of fish. Captain Ted stopped for 4 snorkel adventures and even avoided rain on the horizon. Breakfast, lunch and plenty of water and juices readily available. This is a great water adventure that we highly recommend. Thanks Ted and Dante for the great experience!!!!!!!

On a recent trip to Maui with a group of 4 couples, ages ranging from 48-68, we went Blue Water Rafting out of Kihei. We got put on the boat named The Pineapple Express with Captain Brad, or B-Rad as he likes to call himeslf and Devon, his co-captain. The 5 hour trip was an absolute blast from minute one. They were hilarious and a ton of fun the whole trip. Did I mention easy on the eyes too? The water was rough but the boat handled it beautifully. When they tell you you will get wet you better believe them! The scenery was amazing and like nothing I've ever seen. I can't say enough about this excursion. It's worth every penny. You will be wet, tired and sore when you get back but you will be so entralled by the experience you won't regret any of it. If you're a sissy you may get scared at times but it's still worth it. You'll live. The water was pretty rough in some places and Brad likes to push it, (make it more fun), but he is always safe. Being a boater for more than 20 years we recognized what an excellent captain he was. The way he handled the boat and manuevered around the lava fields and caves was amazing. This was the best excursion by far in terms of scenery and entertainment and just a very different and very special experience. You also get to go snorkeling in a couple of places. Our second stop was phenomenal and had a coral reef with turtles and lots of beautiful fish. The lunch was also way above average. Everyone in our group would highly recommend this trip. Buy a water proof camera. I wish I had.

My group went on the 11:30 snorkeling trip to Molokini with Cpt. Brad and Mike...who were both really funny and great guides. We started off by seeing two large turtles which we stopped and let check us out, then 5 minutes later on our way to Molokini we saw a large humpback breach so we stopped and dropped in the water microphone and listened to it moan. Molokini was sureal and empty due to the time this tour leaves, which makes it perfect. If you're looking for a memorable time this is it.

“Fantastic trip!”

We did the Kanaio Coast/Molkini trip with Dante and Captain Brad, and it was fantastic. You knew what you were getting yourself into before you set off. Captain Brad even said "you know those waiver forms everyone gets you to sign at the before you do something, we MEAN ours!" They were very clear about what to expect and although it was a bit scary at times it was in an exhilerating way, and I can say 100% that I did not feell unsafe. Perhaps the people in a previous review who said it was unsafe should have sat at the back of the boat where the ride is quieter, another thing that was pointed out before we got on the boat. The closer to the front you sit, the bumpier the ride is. Anyway, enough about that, let's talk about the tour. The boat ride was fantastic, the scenery amazing and the guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. Dante was fantastic at seeing turtles, dolphins and even whales! In fact when he saw a whale just beneath the surface Captain Brad produced an underwater microphone which he threw over the side so we could hear them singing!!!! The guys really added to the enjoyment of the day, and didn't mind prolonging our time out to add something to our trip. When we were supposed to be on our way back in, they heard on the radio that some whales had been spotted with some dolphins so they took us off to look for them. We saw a calf, mother and escort and two spinner dolphins with them. We stayed with them for ages watching them play - it really made the trip for me. The whole trip was thoroughly enjoyable, from the Kanaio coast, the scary sea cave, snorkelling with turtles, the back wall of Molokini, the crystal clear waters of Molokini and then the whales (not common at that time of year) we had a fantastic time. Captain Brad really knew how to move that boat & Dante really looked after us. The snacks and lunch were more than adequate, muffins, cookies, lunch rolls, carrot sticks etc. All in all, it was more than worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone!!! One word of warning though, it's not for the faint of heart!
