My wife and I, along with our 10-yr. old daughter Alana, took this wonderful tour on June 13th. The whole family at Wings Over Kauai was great - including Bruce and Ellen's daughter who checked us in. The personal touch was really great and we recommend this tour to everyone! Our flight was 70 minutes long and Bruce's commentary was thorough and never boring. Of course, the tour is also much cheaper than the helicopter offered on the island. The plane is perfect for taking pictures and the noise-canceling headsets with Hawaiian music in the background is a nice touch. Most of all, of course, Kauai is breathtaking from the air. The island had just experienced some heavy rainfall and we must have seen 100 waterfalls that day. The highlight of the tour is the Napali coast and we flew over Napali for quite some time. What a place! After the trip with Bruce, we would never take a tour with anyone else. Bruce really involves you with the tour and the plane was comfortable and perfect for the 3 of us. Use Wings Over Kauai to get acquainted with Kauai - you won't regret it.

Very nice little family run outfit ... Ellen and Bruce are extremely pleasant in every way ... Ellen was very helpful on the phone and in person even for travel tips around Kauai .. The price of the ride is so much more affordable than a helicopter tour .. And I cannot imagine that it can be all that better to be worth double the price ... Kauai is Kauai from the air .. It is still just as incredibly beautiful ... Bruce was wonderful as a pilot ... It was a very enjoyable experience and he makes it a very personal one by teaching you a bit about flying too .. They were also very accomodating to our special situation of having a 2.5 year old with us ... My Mom and I flew on one flight and my husband by himself on another flight ... Ellen even called us and had us reschedule when they were a little doubtful about the weather ... instead of just letting us go in the okay weather and let us deal with it .. I thought that that was very professional and very nice of them ... The flight itself was very comfortable ... Overall Highly recommended ...

I booked Wings Over Kauai after reading several positive reviews and wanting something my entire family, including our infant, could enjoy. I knew I wanted an aerial tour of Kauai, but was as leery of the helicopter tours as they were of my little one. Because we were planning on flying with an infant, I wanted to make sure we wouldn't disturb or ruin anyone else's flight, so I was looking for a tour that was smaller, more personal and unique. With Wings Over Kauai, we got that and more!
When I called to reserve the tour, I spoke with Ellen who was both knowledgeable and VERY friendly. She answered all my questions and was more than willing to work to help accommodate our little one. The plane they fly is a 4-seater, so there wouldn't be anyone else to disturb, and she asked if there was anyplace specific we were looking to fly over so that they could try to work that into the flight plan.
The day of the tour, we showed up early and both Ellen and Bruce (the pilot) greeted us and even presented a gift to our little 'keiki'. When it came time to check-in and go over all of the preflight information, Ellen was helpful and made sure to answer all of our questions and concerns. They even offered us a car seat so that my husband wouldn't have to hold our little one the whole flight, as well as small ear plugs to help with the noise. They also offer a children's-sized headset, but we figured 10 months was a little young to enjoy or even keep it on.
From take-off until landing, the flight was amazing! Bruce was both professional and personable. He explained all of the piloting jargon and information that was passing over the radio, and he also provided a narrative that gave information and details about what we were currently flying over. He did his best to allow me ample opportunity to take photos and also informed me of potential photo ops that would be coming up. Our little one had such a good time that she spent most of the flight laughing, cooing and just enjoying the air from the car seat. My husband enjoyed himself and had a great view even from the rear seat.
One warning for those not used to flying in small aircraft: even on a clear day, it can get a bit bumpy and the nature of the island (mountains and valleys) make for some air pockets. By the end of the flight, my stomach was definitely feeling a bit rough. It had nothing to do with the plane or how it was being piloted, but it is something to keep in mind for those who might not have stomachs of steel. Bruce was very helpful and prepared for any problems - he carried the obligatory air sickness bags but also had ginger candy, water, and a cold cloth that came in VERY handy as we got ready to land.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Wings Over Kauai. Bruce and Ellen were very friendly and the ride itself worth EVERY penny. For both my husband and myself, it was almost half the cost of a helicopter tour, and being able to bring our little one and fly a personal tour made it an even greater value. Anyone looking for a fun and unique way to tour Kauai should definitely consider flying on Wings Over Kauai!

My wife, Annita, and I took this tour during our recent May visit to Kauai and had an absolutly great experience. We wanted to see the island from above but were hesitant to take a helicopter tour. The Wings tour was perfect for us. What a beautiful island as seen from the clouds.
In addition to being a wonderful pilot, Bruce was also an informed guide and provided us with a lot of info about what we were viewing. The vistas were spectacular. Certainly, the price was right, as well--almost half as much as a copter tour for 70 minutes of air time.
We highly recommend this tour to anyone who comes to Kauai and wants to see this beautiful island from above.
