“Beautiful Hotel”

Blennerhassett Hotel

This hotel is newly renovated and beautiful. Very clean and luxurious. I would stay there again for sure. It really should be a four star hotel, I'm not sure what is keeping it from becoming one. The only problem I had was the traffic going by full time - we stayed on the 2nd floor and I barely slept. The traffic REALLY picked up at 5:30 am - double trailer Federal Express semi trucks, etc. If you are a light sleeper, request the 3rd floor or higher and you'll probably be OK.

Who would have thought such a place existed in Parkersburg, WV. I was informed of the renovations the hotel has experienced and I must say - Job Well Done!! Not only was I impressed by the appearance and features of the hotel, but never before have I received such geniune, welcoming service. This place is truly a hidden treasure!

The family, (husband + 13 and 10 yr old daughters) stumbled into Parkersburg, August 2003 and stayed at the newly renovated Blennerhasset Inn. All concurred that it was wonderful from the bedding to the bath, the standard room was great! Along with the Blennerhasset Island adventures we had, and a little shopping at the Parkersburg Mall, we were happily having a great weekend getaway! Can't wait to go back.

My husband and I had the delightful pleasure of staying in the Marie Antoinette room last night (August 22) and were so impressed with this beautiful old hotel. Our room was newly renovated and the shower simply fabulous! A rain shower head, a traditional shower head, two jets on each side AND a hand held. True luxury!

More impressive than the room, however, was the service we experienced from the employees. From the woman who helped me on the phone to the front desk and housekeeping staff -- everyone was very helpful and sincerely service-oriented. We will be making Parkersburg a week-end destination in the future because of this hotel!

“The Blennerhassett Hotel Blues”

Blennerhassett Hotel

I stayed at the Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg, West Virginia this past week from Tuesday 8/12 through this morning 8/15 for a total of three nights. Some aspects of the Hotel are quite nice such as the lobby, bar area and the restaraunt that according to what they told us is opening soon. he room that I had was in dire need of a makeover and had many features that were far off the requirements of a property that promotes that it is on the national trust historic hotels list. Maybe they intend to change this. For all of the charm that is apparent on the exterior and in the lobby area the room was very average to below average. If you are placed in certain room such as I was the noise level is quite loud and you if aren't a deep sleeper then you will hear trucks speeding by through the night. Even better was the interuption that occurred this morning at 4:45 AM when an alarm with a noxious sound went off for approximately 25-30 minutes on the third floor. I couldn't take it after approximately 15 minutes and opted to take a shower and leave. I requested an adjustment to my bill and the girl working the front desk informed me that she did not have the power to make the adjustment. She told me that she did not want to call her boss Dorinda because it was 5:30 AM. I being pretty delirious from sleep deprivation told her to go ahead. She phoned Dorinda who is pretty clueless about customer service and the offer of a $10.00 credit was made which I offered a scatalogical reaction to and left to catch a catnap in a hot car and drive to northern Ohio (190 miles) with my 30 minutes of sleep. My advice is that if you go to Parkersburg stay at a Motel 6 or Red Roof. The room won't be historic however you will get to sleep and save a bunch of money. If you want a better hotel then I suggest either the Hampton Inn or the Amerihost Inns that are available. They are much nicer and I find that the national chains are much better at customer satisfaction. The people that manage the Blennerhassett do not have a clue about how to achieve a repeat customer. They train the help with a common excuse of " I just work here". If you choose to stay at the Blennerhassett then be very picky on the room that you get or I guarantee a sleepless night.Sean in Westlake
