My husband and I just returned from Jakes about two weeks ago and I just wanted to say how amazing our experience was. This was our second time at Jake's- we were there five years ago for our honeymoon and could not think of a more fitting place to spend our five year anniversary.

They have an amazing staff and provide such a unique experience for travelers. My husband and I often talk about how important it is to provide "authentic" experiences for seasoned and jaded travelers- 1000 thread count sheets and over the top luxury seem sort of outdated to us- we love to experience things in a genuine way- to us, that is much more luxurious than being spritzed with Evian all day! It's amazing how pampered we feel at Jake's- we have traveled all over and Jake's is simply the real deal. The architecture and interior design are chic yet keep to the true essence of Jamaica- also try the spa treatments- they are fantastic. Had a great facial there.

We have been all over Jamaica and Treasure Beach is the greatest- such good people there and a wonderful vibe. Try a day of fun and sun with Joseph, who will take you out on a boat and feed you lobster and red stripe all day long on a private beach. Pure heaven.

We hope to spend many wonderful weeks at Jake's in the future.

My friend recently got married at Jake's and it was amazing. If you are looking for an affordable, quiet way to experience Jamaica, this is it! The resort is adorable. Each of the rooms was unique and amazing. The staff was all very friendly and the food was very good. I would highly recommend Jake's for a quiet family getaway or for a romanitic vacation. Probably not the place to go with just a small group of friends and the social scene isn't very lively...but if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing trip this is the place. Also, I know many people are scared of Jamaica as it is not the safest place...I had no worries at Jake's!

I am a Jamaican who lives in London and was back home for funeral and a short break. As usual i always stay in hotels but never at Jakes. I found the experience to be wonderful (stayed in mussels villa 8) The food is excellent and staff are always attentive and professional.
I have read some of the negative reviews and can only put it down to the tourists are not happy in their lifes and on their holiday are still not totally relaxed!!!

a great destination if your not into the hassle and bussle of negril or mobay and to top it of the locals are very friendly

My husband and I spent the last leg of our 3 week weddingmoon at Jakes... we were married in Jamaica at a small resort in a small fishing village, and honestly expected Jakes to be very similar in feel. We were very disappointed. I know most people see bad reviews of this place as poor expectations, but we had just spent a week in Negril, and were really looking forward to getting back to a more real Jamaican feel.

We stayed in the Octopussy 1 and Seapuss. For the price, we expected a lot more. Now, I'm not saying we expected TVs and extertainment (not what we were looking for), but we did expect mosquito netting (which we didn't have in Octopussy), a closing door (which we didn't have in Seapuss) and clean towels. In 3 weeks in Jamaica, we were never eaten alive more than at Jakes. We would wake up in the morning scratching because we got eaten alive at night.

The outdoor showers were great, but there is little hotwater to the Octopussy rooms, and it was cool in the afternoons when we typically showered. The water ran out in about 5 minutes, so you couldn't really enjoy them. It was better in the Seapuss room.

The food at the hotel was REALLY hit or miss, and expensive. It was American prices and we never had a really good meal. We did, however, have a meal that we sent back because it was inedible. We weren't the only people sending food back. We saw it happen several times during our stay. My advice is to eat elsewhere. It will be a third of the cost, and way better! There is a small cafe down the road that serves great breakfast, the restaurant next door has fantastic lunch/dinner (Pod Snappers?), and on the weekends, you can get amazing jerk about 1/2 a mile down the road at one of the local groceries. Jack Sprats was decent if you are in the mood for pizza or ice cream.

The resort is very funky and layed back, but they are completely charging you for the Island Outpost name without the quality. If you want to stay in Treasure Beach, which is an awesome town with amazing people and nature, don't waste your money staying at Jakes.
