Having read mix reports on the hotel, we were pleasently suprised when we arrived. We booked a family break for two days with our two children. Reception were efficient and friendly and we had a lovely deluxe room overlooking Royal Troon suitable for our family. The hotel has a fantastic leisure club and a great swimming pool suitable for young children. Meals were taken in the hotel and while we could not fault the service the dinner menu could have been a little more extensive. Over all an enjoyable break away.

My friend got a reasonable deal on price and was expecting a bargain as the Marine had such a good reputation.

Receptionist was on phone to her friend for at least 5 minutes before she decided to check us in. She was nice enough but room was at back of hotel. Up stairs then, down stairs.
Room smart enough but small and had stunning view onto car park right outside groundfloor window. Curtains broken and did not close properly. So no sea view then!
We thought this was fine if you wanted a travel lodge experience not a 4 star hotel!!
To be fair staff were fine and room service came quick enough and was nice but overall we had expected more. No bargain for the price.

Just back from an overnight stay at the Marine. Bedroom was fine if not a little small. We went down for dinner to be greeted with a wedding party in the dining room. You couldnt hear yourself speak. Bored children running about. We asked to be shifted to a quiter part of the restaurant. Clearly the wedding was running over as susequent guest were being turned away to the bar. It was interesiting watching these guest getting more and more frustrated at the lack of action and information. The whole situation lacked management. It was the same at breakfast people being turned away, food at the buffet running out and again nobody taking control of the situation. The staff were friendly but clearly run off their feet. It would have been nice to be told we were sharing our dining experience with a wedding, then we may have decided not to go.
Food was ok however the breakfast lacked creativity. Clearly the hotel was overtrading without the management or space to cope.

excited to stay on the coast , away from the big cities. hotel looks nostalgic in photos but the inside is a bit worn. kinda susprised to hear it had recently been refurbished. lounge furniture worn and tired. had a nice pool but no suits with. room small and looked worn too. not overly freindly at check in. rather casual for an upscale hotel. waitstaff in lounge very nice. High Tea was really good. breakfast same everyday. boring. no working elevators. had to go upstairs, across the hall then go downstairs to get to our room. weird. the morning trach truck woke us up when nearly backing up to our window facing the garbage cans. no view obviously.
