When my husband and I planned our vacation this summer with our two small children to Lancaster County, we chose this hotel because we could use more of our points than at other hotels nearby. Now I know why. Upon pulling up to the hotel, i saw one car. And that number never topped 5 the four days we were there. Although the rooms appeared to be clean, the whole place appeared very outdated and depressing, despite having just been remodeled. In our room, that was "just remodeled", the furniture, carpet, bedding, and fixtures were all circa 1972. The only thing that i could tell was just changed was the wall paper. I could tell because the outlet covers were never put back on! Apparantly the floor was retiled in the bathroom as well, as all of the pipes under the sink were totally exposed and did not appear finished. The carpet was outdated and dirty and the blnket and sheets were old, worn, and stained. Our toilet seat broke and the air conditioner stopped working after the third day. The whole atmosphere of this placed was gloomy and depressing. For what we paid per night, i expected a whole lot better.

I'm not sure if the hotel is the cause of the mysterious illness that we all came down with on our way home, but as we spent the last day of our vacation primarily in our room due to rain, it's the cause in my mind. My children both became so ill with fevers (103-104), vomiting, and diarreah, that they had to go to the pediatrician.

The only nice part of this hotel was the pool.

“Terrifyingly Hilarious!”

OMG! This place has got to be the ugliest place I have ever stayed at and it was simply terrifying. It is severely outdated, dirty and looks like Norman Bates works there. The beds are terrifying. The walls and ceilings are covered in dust balls that blow in the air conditioner winds. The carpet in the hall way upstairs is hideous and Charles Manson 60's looking.
It is absolutely hideous yet hysterically funny all at the same time.

Checkin was easy and the staff friendly, however the room was just gross. The sheets were dirty, the bathroom looked as though it hadn't been cleaned since 1980 and the odor in the room was stale and mildew like. We stayed here on night because we arrived late, but the following morning we checked out and stayed at much cleaner establishment. We were traveling with a little one, thank goodness for the pack-n-play because I would not have placed our child on any surface in this hotel.

“Found a creepy crawly in the bed....”

We arrived after midnight. Check in was easy but nothing spectacular. There was a divider between the desk person and myself, which I don't think was necessay.

When we crawled into bed, we found a small spider. No big feal, we were near the woods. Plus I was really tired.

WWoke up the next morning and realized that there was no ironing board or hair dryer. I thought those amentities were standard in rooms nowadays. I guess I should have checked before I booked the room. I'm sure I could have called the front desk but by the time it arrived I would have needed to be on the road.

I wish I booked somewhere else to stay.

We booked this hotel for a couple of nights to enjoy Amish Country. It is located on Route 30, which does not provide you with any of the same views as the rest of PA Dutch Country.
Check-in was a breeze and our first floor room was available right away. The room was clean and had a decent bed and your typical furnishings. The bathroom was clean, had this odd heat lamp thing, and had some very thread-bare towels. We could not get any better towels during our stay, and the towels for the pool were also thread bare. The bathroom could have used some updating.
We took advantage of the pool. Not many did as the pool setting was not the best, although it did make for a nice swim. We also took advantage of the comedy club one night, which the front desk booked for us. The club had a couple of decent acts but was very smoky.
Check-out was problem free as well.
I wouldn't condemn this hotel but there are better places to stay in Amish Country. Try one of the places run by the Bird-in-Hand folks. If you have to stay at the Rodeway Inn, bring your own towels!
