I wondered why the last review of this hotel was two years old, but we decided to try it anyway. We figured, how bad can a Marriott Courtyard be? On the plus side, this property offers free airport shuttle service. The public areas are very pleasant, and the rooms are okay. However, during our stay, there was a terribly strong and unpleasant smell like gas that we noticed when we came back from dinner and got out of our car (in the garage) and into the elevators. Our room on the third floor did not have the smell, but it was present in the elevators and the garage all that evening. I was told it came from a nearby sewage plant, and very, very occasionally that happened. We had originally planned to come back for our last night after our coastal tour, before we flew out. However, after that experience, we changed our plans and stayed at at the Portland airport area Holiday Inn Express (see my review on that property), which was very, very nice, for the last night.
