We stayed at the South Rodeway Inn for two nights after July 4th. The decision to stay there based entirely on price - this was the cheapest option when we were going to be in Sandusky.
From the most of the reviews I read, I was expecting a filthy flea bag dump with mysterious stains and various vermin on every surface. I did not find that. Let's be clear - this is not a four star resort (or even a two star Holiday Inn). It's a one star hotel built and last updated in the Kennedy administration.
But for what it lacked in charm, it was clean, quiet, safe, and above all, affordable. If you want or need more amenities spend the extra money. But if you're looking for a bed, a shower, a pool, and some extra money to spend at Cedar Point, this is a decent destination.
Tip - we didn't even bother with the continental breakfast. Instead we walked next door to Jolly Donuts, a local joint with hot breakfasts and some great homemade donuts.
