“Legendary Resort - but tone the service down a bit”

Have recently returned from Mauritius having enjoyed six nights in Legends and found it to be a very close second to perfection.

On arrival (after cold towels and champagne) we were informed that as a honeymoon couple we were to be upgraded to a deluxe room (water theme) complete with more champagne and rose petals strewn everywhere. The room was spacious and the large bathroom with sea view from the tub was both relaxing and luxurious. The minibar was well stocked with beer, rum, soft drinks, chocolate bars, crisps and nuts. Best of all was that the deluxe rooms are set in a more quiet cove away from the main beach where the majority of the accommodation is situated, in addition they also had two private sun loungers and plentiful space outside to relax, throw in the free room service that all inclusive customers benefit from and you may never feel like leaving the room.

However, leave it you should, for Legends has much more to offer. Of the many restaurants we enjoyed Karma the most, although to have paid £130 as half board guests would have been more than it was worth. La Bastide was good for pizza and the Banyan bar was excellent for a lunch time snack if you were on the back beach, but to get back to the half board point - Do not come here on half board if you like big meals or a drink or two as the prices are unrealistic. As mentioned our meal in Karma came to £130 although to be fair it was a long relaxing evening with time for a couple of bottles of wine, but even a quick meal in one of the other restaurants could still some to £50 or £60. Of course you could eat in the half board restaurant ,Ginko, every night, but it could get boring pretty quickly. Which brings me to another important point - Book everything you want to do as soon as possible after you arrive. We only thought about it on our second afternoon and found that whatever it was - restaurants, spa or diving it was booked up for the following two or three days

I can recommend the diving - two hours in the pool allows you to dive to 12m in the afternoon and its awesome to see so many beautiful fish up close. There are loads of activities you don't have to book - such as the kayaks, peddle boats, cinema and driving range so you'll never be stuck if you don't fancy sitting in the sun all day. If you can't get booked into the spa for a treatment you can still use the sauna, steam room and outdoor jacuzzi - not to many people seemed to know this as the day we went we had the entire place to ourselves.

The only small problem we had with Legends was the service, and I do have difficulty calling it a problem, but I found that some of the staff were a bit over the top in the efforts to be attentive. If that sounds fussy it probably is, and it didn't stop me giving the place a 5 star rating, but by the time someone had offered to clean my glasses, top up my already full glass or carry my breakfast plate the last two steps to the table for the 100th time I wished they would give it a rest

As I said it did not stop me giving Legends full marks and I would recommend the place to any of my friends or relatives. Do go all inclusive, Do book early for restaurants and activities and Don't worry about the weather before you go - this place has something for everyone - rain, hail or shine

We have just got back from Legends where we had our wedding. Let us clear up a few points for anyone having second thoughts.

Weather – Well our time there started on the 31st August, it rained practically non stop for 2 days but the other 14 days bar one were sunny and warm. Even on the 2 days that the weather was poor the hotel is that lovely there was no issue with us spending time under shelter.

The Beach – The beach is lovely and photographs certainly don’t do it justice (very private and peaceful). Anyone wishing to go snorkeling to see the fish it would be better to go out to the reefs anyway. Not many hotels have brilliant snorkeling on their beaches.

The Staff – Unrivaled, they are so well mannered and remember your requirements from the first day to the last. These people work incredibly long hours for not much money at all and they are still always very pleasant and smiling.

Special mention to:
Kiran – Grand Bleu and Spirit Lounge
Anjalee – All over the resort
Nitish – Grand Bleu
Elsa – Wedding coordinator
Sanjeev – Beverage Manager
Kumar – Beach waiter

But all very pleasant and well mannered, in fact you get a bit of a shock when you fly back to Heathrow and realize how rude and ill-mannered some people are back in this country (don’t set me off).

The Wedding – Perfect, leave everything in Elsa’s hands, she is very laid back and encourages you not to worry, this is because she is confident that everything will be sorted and it was…..and more. Make sure you get the sega band at your wedding this was just excellent and very colorful.

The Food – What can we say, first class, portions are very good and I can’t understand why anyone would have any complaints whatsoever about the food. Those who just like plain old egg and chips I suggest they stay at home.

All Inclusive – Don’t even think about going half board, this hotel is way too expensive especially if you like a drink. Just a little example £9 for a single Jack Daniels. The All inclusive option includes trips, massages all your food etc and is just superb. One mis-leading thing from the Thomas Cook brochure to be aware of though, not ALL (but most) premium labeled drinks are on the All Inclusive. The Jack Daniels is NOT on the All Inclusive.

Anyway we could write a novel so if anyone has any questions at all please contact us, we have lots of photo’s and advice but the best bit of advice we could give is don’t worry and don’t listen to any negative comments………….. it’s great !!

We went to Legends in our honeymoon for the first 2 weeks in June 2006. It was a huge expense, but it was our first real holliday. After doing a lot of research, we decided to go to Legends and use their all inclusive package.
My husband and I had travelled around Europe quite a lot and staying in good hotels, so we had had bad experiences in the past.

Well, I have to say that our choice couldnt have been better! When we went, Legends was a 4 star resort but in a couple of months was being upgraded to a 5 star. I doesnt have the snobbish luxury that Ive experience before in this types of resorts, but we were completely satisfied.

The staff is wonderfull, they are allways there, with a smile in their face, but without being annoying. Always so helpfull! The food in the restaurants is delicious. Ive never tried so many different flavours... and they all melt in my mouth!

We stayed in a Superior room, which was great and had an amazing sea view!

If you go, do not hesitate to take the All Inclusive Package, well worthed! Ive never eaten so much and so well in my life! Also, take a local taxi to take you around (they are full of great stories about the island and know the best spots)

On the down side, at breakfast time all the birds are around you and the minute you leave your table, they'll eat your food!

It really was an unforgivable trip of a life time.

“What a fantastic place to stay!”

We went to Mauritius on honeymoon, and staying at Legends Hotel made a perferct fortnight excellent.
We wont go through the whole experience as it would spoil the surprises for you, but we wanted to share some of our top tips for making the most out of your stay..

Go all inclusive - biggest tip we could give you. It covers everything from champagne, all food (except Lobster), plus excursions and spa treatments. What more could you want??

The restaurants are all excellent and cannot be faulted. Just a top tip - you have to reserve a table in the a la carte restaurants - so get in early and book as far in advance as you can. Highly recommend the Karma Restaurant. The other 2 - Abalone and Bastide are outside and if windy - you do feel a little windswept - but maybe in summer this is rather nice - it just had a chilly edge to it for us in early Aug.
Gents are told in the brochure they need to wear long trousers for the restaurants but it doesn't state they have to wear closed shoes !!

The excursions offered by tour operator were very good, but we kind of didn't want to share the experience - so chose instead to do a trip on our own - you can hire the hotel car (lovely landcruiser with AC), for the day for €90. We started the day with a little light shopping and then headed off for the sights. We basically got driven around the whole island, stopping at key spots of interest (hindu temple/ 7 col earth / chamerel waterfalls etc) but had our own personal driver. Much nicer than having to wait for everyone to get back on a mini bus at each stop.
Top tip - if planning to stop for lunch at the restaurant the driver recommends overlooking mountains, ask them to reserve you a table at edge of balcony in advance. View is spectacular.

Watersports at hotel were fantastic, and available all day long. Beach was wonderful - a shame that people still do early sunbed reservation with their towels - not really necessary as plenty of beds available !! Beach towels are included so you can have extra room in your cases for some new dresses or shoes ladies !!

Enjoy every minute of your time at Legends, it really is worth every penny of going all inclusive, and the service and staff were all fantastic.

“This place is Paradise!”

We went to legends as so many do on honeymoon, and it was everything we dreamt of and more. The service is second to none, the surroundings, gorgeous, and calming, tranquil, the food delightful, and luxurious, the drinks, fabulous, can recommend the pina coladas, the all inclusive is worth every penny, as it includes all branded drinks as well as local, so smirnoff vodka, baileys, the lot.

They came to us every evening with champagne and canapes at our room, and offering to turn our beds down, etc, they service the rooms lovely, it truly is just what you need after a wedding and to celebrate each other in paradise!! I would be amazed if anyone went and could find fault! Enjoy.

Oh and book your restaurants for you stay at once when you arrive, to make sure you make the most of those lovely ala carte restaurants.
