Have recently returned from Mauritius having enjoyed six nights in Legends and found it to be a very close second to perfection.
On arrival (after cold towels and champagne) we were informed that as a honeymoon couple we were to be upgraded to a deluxe room (water theme) complete with more champagne and rose petals strewn everywhere. The room was spacious and the large bathroom with sea view from the tub was both relaxing and luxurious. The minibar was well stocked with beer, rum, soft drinks, chocolate bars, crisps and nuts. Best of all was that the deluxe rooms are set in a more quiet cove away from the main beach where the majority of the accommodation is situated, in addition they also had two private sun loungers and plentiful space outside to relax, throw in the free room service that all inclusive customers benefit from and you may never feel like leaving the room.
However, leave it you should, for Legends has much more to offer. Of the many restaurants we enjoyed Karma the most, although to have paid £130 as half board guests would have been more than it was worth. La Bastide was good for pizza and the Banyan bar was excellent for a lunch time snack if you were on the back beach, but to get back to the half board point - Do not come here on half board if you like big meals or a drink or two as the prices are unrealistic. As mentioned our meal in Karma came to £130 although to be fair it was a long relaxing evening with time for a couple of bottles of wine, but even a quick meal in one of the other restaurants could still some to £50 or £60. Of course you could eat in the half board restaurant ,Ginko, every night, but it could get boring pretty quickly. Which brings me to another important point - Book everything you want to do as soon as possible after you arrive. We only thought about it on our second afternoon and found that whatever it was - restaurants, spa or diving it was booked up for the following two or three days
I can recommend the diving - two hours in the pool allows you to dive to 12m in the afternoon and its awesome to see so many beautiful fish up close. There are loads of activities you don't have to book - such as the kayaks, peddle boats, cinema and driving range so you'll never be stuck if you don't fancy sitting in the sun all day. If you can't get booked into the spa for a treatment you can still use the sauna, steam room and outdoor jacuzzi - not to many people seemed to know this as the day we went we had the entire place to ourselves.
The only small problem we had with Legends was the service, and I do have difficulty calling it a problem, but I found that some of the staff were a bit over the top in the efforts to be attentive. If that sounds fussy it probably is, and it didn't stop me giving the place a 5 star rating, but by the time someone had offered to clean my glasses, top up my already full glass or carry my breakfast plate the last two steps to the table for the 100th time I wished they would give it a rest
As I said it did not stop me giving Legends full marks and I would recommend the place to any of my friends or relatives. Do go all inclusive, Do book early for restaurants and activities and Don't worry about the weather before you go - this place has something for everyone - rain, hail or shine
