“New Years Eve in Virginia City”

Ramada Virginia City

Jan 2, 2008

What a great hotel. Although I appreciate the history of Virginia City and its antique hotels, I still prefer to sleep in something new- this hotel is just that. It's perfect for Virginia City as its exterior decor blends with the western aspects of this tourist town, yet its accommodations are exactly what a modern person needs. Nice room, great continental breakfast. It's a little steep if you're walking from C Street to E street (E Street is the hotel's street). Definitely will stay again and recommend to others.

“Wonderful Surprise”

Ramada Virginia City

I booked the Ramada for a meeting for 12 people plus spouses in July 2007. They catered our meals, gave us use of a meeting room and we stayed on-site at the hotel. What a nice surprise! We weren't sure what to expect since the hotel was small and relatively new, but we were all very pleased with the cleanliness, responsiveness and just how pleasant staff were to deal with.

We booked 5 months in advance because of the size of the group. Check in was accomplished without a problem. Check out was handled efficiently as well.

Be specific when you book -- ask for a room on the back side of the hotel. That's the side with the cool view of the sunrise. I stayed on the front side overlooking the parking lot.

The hotel still has that new look and feel to it. Everything was very clean including my hotel room. I had a king room with cable tv, table and chair, lounge chair and ottoman, dresser, bedside table and another credenza with chair. Internet and land line telephone service was very efficient. Although cell phone service was spotty.

Tips:
* The hotel is pet friendly
* If you're not very fit you will likely need a car to get around Virginia City since hills are steep to and from the hotel up to town.
* I wouldn't count on taxi service being available. Booking a rental car in Reno is probably a good choice.
* If you tend to have motion sickness take some medicine before heading up the mountain to Virginia City. A breathtaking view that did wonders for my stomach - LOL.
* I had a very early morning flight to return home so I decided to stay at the La Quinta Inn in Reno near the airport the night before. I will review that hotel separately.
* Laundry facilities and soda/ice machines are available on the first floor.
* There's a very efficient elevator.

All in all, I was very pleased with this Ramada and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to a friend or family member. Feel free to email with any questions. Have a great trip!

“Great value and location”

This is a new hotel being open since Sept. 06 so it is still clean and fresh in its appearance. We stayed in a king bed room. The room was spacious, comfortable bed, and fantastic mountain view from our room window (which you can open) on the back side of the building. We did not have a reservation but it was a Sunday night stay and the weekenders had all left. We got a 79.00 room rate. Fri and Sat rates will be higher. The breakfast room was large and very nice with plenty of tables. The breakfast itself is the typical continental you find at most hotels, pastries, toast, cereal, juices, coffee, no hot food. The location is great. You can walk to town in a few minutes and out to the old historic cemetary in about 5 minutes. This is the only modern hotel in Virginia City. Also this hotel is only 30 minutes to the Reno airport so is a good alternative if you don't want to stay in the Reno area by the airport.

“What a surprise!”

We were so suprised to find a Ramada in Virginia City, and just walked in without a reservation. We found it to be immaculate, ultra reasonably priced, and incredibly quiet. We stayed in a room with a double jetted tub that was extra fun. Perched on the side of the mountain, we had a great panorama of the town below.

The place opened six months ago but still had that 'new' smell to it, and we couldn't find a flaw in the operation. The staff was friendly, eager to offer suggestions for dining and things to see. It's a great place to stay in Virginia City!
