“Decent hotel casino for those with a car”

Cannery Casino

Stayed at the Cannery July 22, 2006. Hotel/casino is located on a busy street a few blocks off I-15. Definitely must have a rental car if you are flying into Las Vegas rather than driving your own car.

Free parking. Very short walk from main entrance to registration desk and hotel elevators/hallways. Friendly desk staff. My room was large, clean, and well-kept. Would have liked a coffee maker in the room.

My nonsmoking room did not smell of smoke, but when I returned home I noticed smoke odors on things that were only worn/used in the room, not in the public areas. I think that's nearly unavoidable at a hotel connected to a casino which allows smoking.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Large, clean room at reasonable price
    • Disliked — smoke smell and no coffee maker
    • Tips/Secrets: — This is an average hotel/casino located north of Las Vegas. Fine for what it is

“Buffet is a Great Deal”

For 'off the strip'...the buffet was pretty good. Sign up for the slots club and you get a coupon for the buffet. We paid $3.99 each for lunch and found the quality pretty good...

Casino is nice...and the cinima just opened.

“Nice casino & hotel away from The Strip”

Cannery Casino

My husband and I stayed at the Cannery Casino in June of 2006. The casino has alot to offer and it is about ten miles away from The Strip. It was easy enough to drive to The Strip in Las Vegas to see the big casinos from this location in Northern Las Vegas. The Cannery has concerts on weekends with some fairly big name attractions. It has plenty of parking. The rooms are large and comfortable. I did not smell smoke. The rooms were large, nicely furnished, new and modern. The bathroom was perfect, new tile, like just built. The gift shop had a very limited selection- shop elsewhere. My FAVORITE part of the Cannery Casino by far was the restaurants. The buffet was fantastic. Also, on Saturday mornings the Saturday Champagne Brunch Buffet was $9.99 per person and included champagne, coffee, juice and the huge buffet with salad bar, chinese buffet line, pasta bar, breakfast bar, fruit, meat carving station, etc. It was a great value. The other restaurant that we ate at was the mexican restaurant in the casino called the CASA COCINA. It had excellent food with homemade salsa, tortilla chips, and great chicken nachos. The Margaritas were refreshing, and the bar tender was attentive. We would stay at the Cannery Casino again, and would love to return to the Casa Cocina mexican restaurant.

“All rooms smell like smoke - avoid”

Cannery Casino

Jun 3, 2006

I'm finishing up a two-week stay at the Cannery, traveling on Air Force business. I can tell you that this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in.

The main problem is that even when staying in a non-smoking room, everything smells like smoke! It actually seems like smoke is blowing into your room via the A/C, straight from the casino floor. I tried turning off the A/C and opening the window, but was reminded that the hotel is located next to two very busy and noisy streets, so that was not an option. My only solution was to turn off the A/C until it got hot in the room, and run it only long enough to cool down.

Another problem - when the maids change the sheets, sometimes those smell like smoke too. I could swear that they are replacing your sheets with sheets from a smoking room. Anyway, enough of that.

Every vending machine in the place is broken to some degree. If you want a bottle of water at 11PM, the shop downstairs is closed. So you go to a vending machine, most don't take dollar bills, some take your money entirely, some will take money and are out of everything but one kind of soda.

The laundry room is hidden in some obscure location by the pool and has no signs pointing to it. The first time I tried to use a washer, it took my money, just like other vending machines around the property.

Let's finish up with the fact that there is no wireless internet and no business center - only $9 a day DSL connected by a third party. My Air Force team of six people were stuck here for two weeks and all had the same feelings as this review. We couldn't move to another hotel or we would have.

Never again Cannery!

The Cannery is a new casino property in North Las Vegas. The property is very clean and maintained. Rooms are nicely decorated and very quiet. Would not hesitate to recommend. This propery however, is a long way from the strip.
