I was hesitant to book based on a lot of negative reviews I read, but one thing prompted me to overlook the potential downfalls - the room cost me eighteen dollars. Eighteen dollars? That's like a room at the Holiday Inn in 1978.
Look, this place ain't the Bellagio, okay? You have to be realistic about what your expectations are when you come to Laughlin. The Belle, like almost all the casinos in town, is an older property that shows it's age. That said, it's not neccessarily run down. It's just not opulent, fancy, modern, or whatever adjective you want to use.
The place has a pretty good vibe, though. If you look past the worn carpets, the scuffed walls, the outdated sconces - things like that, you'll find that the architecture is actually pretty cool, and you can imagine how nice the place probably was when it was first built.
The Mark Twain restaurant is fantastic, with views overlooking the Colorado River. Also, the brewpub is actually new and hip, and could compete with any similar bar/restaurant in any major urban area.
The pools are nothing special, but there's two of them to relax at. The sportsbook is terrible, but the adjascent property has a pretty good one. If I were to stay again, I would certainly request a room with a balcony overlooking the river. That would have enhanced my stay.
If I would have paid eighty dollars for my room, I would have been dissatisfied, but for the ridiculous price I paid - more then content. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who was offered a similiar rate.
Ignore the reviews that imply this place is a roach infested dump. It's not. Be honest with yourself, if you expect and demand luxury, don't book here, 'cause you're not getting it. The Colorado is a kitchy, somewhat rundown, mostly fun place to stay, and with the proper frame of mind coming into it, you'll enjoy your stay.
