“Fantastic for the price, few things to fix”

Radisson Suites Hotel Buena Park

4 of 5 stars
Antioch, ca
Feb 18, 2008

Fantastic for the price, big room suites, great breakfast selection, nice work out room, free internet access, refrigerator, newer beds... I liked the decor. Reasonably priced. I think other expecting an Embassy Suites feeling will be disappointed, but again the rates are not Embassy Suites rates either.

The area isn't wonderful... isn't close to Disneyland as you may think....

A few things they can improve upon... they force you to use a credit card at check in (which I despise doing), they have new TV's (but really should have bitten the bullet and put in good ones) as every room I have stayed here in has TV troubles... sound doesn't work - poor picture quality... and they are the only hotel I stay at that doesn't have Pay Per View movies?

Its above average though for the price and what you get.

Recently stayed here from Nov. 10th through the17th. I was to stay here for a couple of days, and was going to switch to a Hotel in Anaheim. I was so please with the hotel, I canceled my other hotel reservations and stayed here the entire time. First, the location is Great. Next door to Medieval Times. Knott's Berry is about a block or two on the same street, a Starbucks, and anything else you could think of. The hotel is well kept on the outside, and just a normal looking Hotel from the outside. All the rooms look into the beautifully
landscaped hotel courtyard with Palmtree's, a huge water fountain, a kidney shaped pool, and a hot tub. There is a resteraunt on site, Capistrano's which I thought was great. Very quality food. A little tip here, there are two menu's, so if they give you one that seems expensive, ask for the other menu. Breakfast free every morning which includes sausage, hash browns, bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes or french toast, fruit, bagels, toast, dry cereal, milk, coffee,
orange juice and apple juice. I thought the breakfast was fine. Rooms are Suites and are spacious. You have two flat screen LCD TV's, a Refrigerator, Microwave, hair drier, coffee maker and more. Amenities were of okay quality, and the A/c worked fine and was quite. Beds were comfortable as all of there beds are Select Comfort beds. Do you know your sleep number? The rooms were clean, employees were friendly, always did a good job cleaning my room, and the hotel was quiet when I was there. The only negative things I can say was the toilet in my room was not bolted down well so it moved some, the bathroom exhaust motor was on it's way out as it barely turned so the bathroom steamed up, and my worst complaint was the TV channels. There are only a handful of channels, and no channels that kids would be interested in. I spoke to an employee there, and he says the hotel has an over the air reception, ( An antenna ) but that is going to change in about a month. Another nice touch was the 2 bottled waters that they give you free each day. I am a picky person and go to Disneyland every year, and have never stayed at a better place! Bottom line in my opinion is this hotel is a steal! Don't be afraid to make reservation here! Free shuttle to Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm! Two nice new shuttle buses too!

“Will not go back”

Radisson Suites Hotel Buena Park

We arrived early on Saturday and luckily they did have a room available so we didn't have to lug our luggage around until the official check in time. When we came to the room it was so stuffy and warm. We immediately called to the front desk to let them know and they said that they would send someone up to correct the AC. No one came so we called again. The maintenance guys came up and said that they installed new thermostats and they were tricky to get to work. So after he punched around a while on the thermostat it finally came on. unfortunately it was not on for very long. We made another call to the front Desk for assistance and they said that they would come right up......The next day still no one came up to fix the AC. We were out the entire day and no one came up later that evening after multiple calls down to the front desk someone came up and fiddled with the thermostat and got the AC to come on. And again it did not stay on and the room was very stuffy.
The 1st night we stayed the hotel hosted a reception and the parking lot was taken up by those who were attending the reception. We had to park in the back of the parking lot and was told if there is no parking that we could park in the parking lot next door.
We asked the front desk about good restaurants near by and she referred us to the restaurant on site.
They did have a great breakfast and the gift shop lady was very friendly.
We decided to stay our 3rd night at a hotel in Santa Ana - Hampton Inn which was 100% better.

“Radisson, what were you thinking??”

Radisson Suites Hotel Buena Park

Our family has been staying at this property every October since 2001, starting back when it was an Embassy Suites. It was a great fit for our family since the rooms sleep up to 6, they had a fabulous cook to order breakfast--not to mention a very relaxing "Happy Hour". Last October we arrived to find that our favorite hotel was now a Radisson Suites. Since the change-over had just occurred, there was absolutely no difference. Well, that all changed this year.

The worst change was the refurbishment of the rooms. They took out the bedroom vanity and sink and turned it into a closet!!! So now when you have a large family staying in one room, you can only use the bathroom mirror and blow dryer one at a time. This was a huge inconvenience for us, and we only had 3 people in the room this year.

The breakfast is no longer cooked to order (goodbye omelettes and huevos rancheros). It is now a buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and alternating pancakes and french toast. The toaster is gone so the bread and bagels were kind of useless. Juice choices are now limited to apple or orange.

There is no longer a "Happy Hour", in fact they took out the main bar, pool table and video games and added more tables for breakfast. There is only one very small bar in Capistrano's that has 4 or 5 barstools.

For someone who has never stayed at this hotel, they will probably find it just fine, especially at the price we paid of $82 per night. After all, they still offer the free shuttle to Disneyland, Knotts and anywhere else within a mile of the hotel. But I was very disappointed in the changes that were made. In fact, one of the employees told us they have gotten many complaints about the refurbishment of the rooms.

    • Disliked — The refurbished rooms are not convenient for large families.

“Great Family Destination!”

Radisson Suites Hotel Buena Park

My family and I just returned from a fun vacation to Soak City and Knotts Berry farm and I just had to comment on the Radisson Suites Hotel. I've looked at many reviews on this site to give me advice on were to stay and now I want to return the favor. First off, this place is NOT a place to go if you want a quiet little getaway. These suites are MOSTLY for families. You'll hear laughing and playing children most of the day and night. Although the bedrooms in the rear are very quiet to most of the noise. The hotel has a very nice pool with trees and tall palms to shade most of the hot sun. My kids had a blast in the pool, where they could mingle with other children and share water toys.
The rooms are of a decent size. The suites contain small fridge(fits mostly drinks), microwave oven and bar sink. The rooms with the best views of the pool are doubles. We shared sleeping on the sofa sleeper which was not very comfortable. Room was neat and comfortable with tables and chairs. Now, don't expect 5 star quality rooms, since there was many "cosmetic" problems with our rooms. If you can live with little cracks, older rugs and bad paint jobs you'll enjoy your stay. The breakfasts in the morning more than makes up for any pitfalls the rooms might have. You are very close to Knotts, the mall, many great restaurants and downtown. Oh, and don't forget the free hotel shuttle to Knotts or Soak City! I would suggest a inflatable mattress instead of sleeping on sofa. There is plenty of room to set up. Also, bring a cooler to put snacks in to free up fridge for drinks only!! We will go back again real soon!!!
