“great stay”

Ayres de Recoleta Hotel

We stayed there 3/29-4/1.This was for the second part of our stay in Buenos Aires, having stayed at Art hotel the first part.
This location was superb - a half block from the cemetery and a half block from "recoleta village" which has a movie theatre, restaurants etc, a small mall of sorts. The street it is on has very little traffic.
The lobby is very comfortable, the room we had was a studio with a kitchen area and table and plenty of drawers, closet etc. We really didn't use the kitchen for cooking but it was handy and certainly a nice option to have the space and convenience. They had a lot of nice small touches around. When you check in there are 2 bottles of cold water in the fridge for you for example. It is the little things that go pretty far in my book.
The staff was extemely nice.
I had read negatives about the breakfast at a cafe down the street, and while it might not have been the most varied, it was totally fine. It was a nice cafe, with plenty of people having meals there. The hotel gives you a voucher each morning and breakfast is from (I think) 7-10 am. They have fruit salad, medialuna, fresh orange juice, yogurt, coffee, which was pretty much all I want as an option.
The suggestions the staff offered for low key restaurants and directions were very appropriate. They were happy to assist in any way, always offering to make calls on our behalf. Maybe this is how most places are but we were super pleased.
I would be delighted to stay again.

“Certainly above 3*”

Ayres de Recoleta Hotel

We picked this hotel because of the reviews on Tripadvisor and were pleasantly surprised.

The hotel location is fantastic. Recoleta is packed with beautiful buildings and great restaurants. All major tourist attractions are nearby too. We spent the entire day walking around Recoleta. Free Buenos Aires guide in the room is fantstic for planning your tailor made tours and the text serves as a personal guide. One thing, however, to bear in mind, the hotel is literally outside the Recoleta cemetary. It is important BA landmark, but if you are freaked out by cemetaries, you might have disturbed sleep here.

The hotel is not your conventional chain hotel (although we understand they are becoming a chain now in BA, with a sister hotel in Palermo). This is an aparthotel, with rooms more like suites, which are very well equipped. Everything is above 3* and even though the venue doesn't have any restaurant facilities, they do give you vouchers for a free breakfast at a nearby cafe.

I guess the best part of the stay at Ayres is the staff. Ask their recommendations on everything. It was our first time in BA and they certainly made it fantastic stay. BA is probably the most cultured city in Latin America, but don't miss the shopping. The hotel organises shopping tours around Christian Dior, Lacoste, Cacharel and leather outlets, where you can pick up fantastic bargains. You will be picked up by your personal shopper, who in his car will take you everywhere. It's a free service, but be generous with the tip.

Thank you to everybody at Ayres. We are looking forward to be back in Buenos Aires and trying out your sister hotel in Palermo!

“Excellent Location, outstanding price”

I booked this hotel for three reasons 1. Location; very close to the zoo, botanical gardens, cemetary, bookstore, movie house clubs and restaurants 2. the price and 3. since I have been to BA multiple times, I sometimes just like to cook at home and these suites have a full well stocked kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised as when I arrived I was treated excellently by all staff and since it was an off time I was upgraded to the Penthouse for a few days . . then was down on the 2nd floor. I found that the location was perfect, the staff very attentive to every single need, I always like the security of a doorman 24 hours a day. . .but I require one thing that is lacking in a number of other hotels. . . Quiet and an airconditioner that operates to normal specs. This hotel provided all of this at an excellent value. I guess to sum it up for you intrepid travelers and those who do not travel the world every 3 months: I would and will stay here again, there is no need to pay more. . this is very good value for the money. . .so you will have more to spend on other things. . .best wishes, and thank you to the personell who I know will read this as I have alerted them to this site and the number of World Travelers that use this site. Bravo y Gracias

“Great place, great staff - good location”

Ayres de Recoleta Hotel

We had a really good stay here Jan - Feb 07 for 4 nights, then again on the way back from Uruguay. The staff was great, helpful and friendly, the rooms really nice, the location next in Recoleta very safe and 45 seconds away from some good quality restaurants and shopping. The hotel itself is very modern and contemporary looking, as you can see in the photos. We booked the penthouse suite for a few bucks more - well worth it. Nice large patio on the 10th floor, nice outdoor BBQ if you want to cook, and a nice view of cemetery (a highlight of BA) and the neighbourhood. We know, from booking our trip through Latin america from our home in Canada, how much concern safety and neighbourhood can be if you don't know the city - be assured, this hotel is clean, safe and well located.

The only downside was the group of loud, always yelling Americans complaining about EVERYTHING from the internet to the fact the front desk asked what time they were planning to check out. They really just embarrassed themselves. But the staff took it very well, better than I would have.

The hotel and the staff were great - get them to book you the car to the airport, it was MUCH more comfortable and safer than the taxis, and a great driver.

Thanks, Ayres, for a great stay.

“Decent location & appartments”

Ayres de Recoleta Hotel

I stayed at the Ayres de Recoleta Hotel at the beginning of February 2007 for 4 nights & paid U$80 a night booking through expedia. As previous posters have written, the rooms are apartments with a kitchen & are in an ikea style. My room was facing the street, but this wasn't a problem & was very spacious & clean. The hotel is situated close to the Cementerio de la Recoleta, which felt a safe & quiet area.. Around the corner, near the cemetary walls are numerous restaurants & a few bars, although personally I prefered the Microcentre district for these. The hotel is quite a walk to the nearest subway station, so you will sometimes need to use either buses or taxis to get around.. The breakfast is served in a coffee shop, around the corner ( This is included in the room price ) , but to be honest,I thought the breakfast was pretty poor. The swimming pool area is also very small ( just 2 sunloungers & 2 deckchairs ) & is a suntrap. Most people who came out to sit by the pool, left in a few minutes. The hotel does offer free internet for its guests.
If you request the reception to get you a taxi to get to the airport, they will automatically order you a chaufer driven car instead of a taxi ( this costs A$70 ). I had no problem with reception letting me have a late check out for my room until 15.30. I think this is a good hotel to stay in, if you want to stay in the Recoleta area, if you can get a decent deal.
