“Great Urban Pool, Adequate Room”

Claridge Hotel

3 of 5 stars
Charlotte, NC
May 13, 2008

At the end of our vacation we stayed at the Claridge for one night and were pleasantly surprised by the pool. The check in and concierge service were prompt and helpful. The room was standard for an older hotel and the bathroom was small but fine. The room was slightly worn and we could hear other guests speaking in their room through the vents.

Having previously stayed in Recoleta, I think I would choose to stay in Recoleta or Palermo if I were to return to BA. However, breakfast and the pool are the main reasons I would stay at the Claridge again. The pool and surrounding deck were large and few hotels in downtown BA have a pool.

“Great location / Good Service”

Claridge Hotel

Hey people! Me and my wife just spent 4 days at the Claridge, and here´s what we think it´s worth sharing:
-- The Rooms
Very clean. The rooms are a bit small and have and older look to it. The bathroom is small too, but you do have a bathtub in there, and for those who like it, like me, it´s definitely a plus. The room´s floor is made of carpet, but we had no alergic problems with it.
They have a wide variety of cable channels, too. The safe in the room is the best I´ve seen! You need no keys, just put in the code you like and it´s locked. Easy to use.
-- Complimentary Internet
Used it very little. I like to really disconnect from the world when on vacation :) It did work nicely on the few times I used it.
-- Food
We didn´t order anything from the room service. Buenos Aires has way too many great restaurants that made almost impossible for us to even need room service. About the breakfast, it is good and tasty (even though usually brazilian breakfasts in hotels are better). A side note about it is you have to wait a little bit to get a table if the Hotel is crowded (about 10 minutes). Other than that, the service is good.
-- Front Desk
Great, great service. Very helpful people. They gave us a map of town right away and located us on what to do and where to go. Made us reservations for tango show and told us a little bit about good restaurants, too. We were fully satisfied with their service.
-- Location
That is the BEST thing about the hotel. It is indeed very well located, as a few others have said. You´ll be within walking distance of many interesting points: Shopping street "Calle Florida" is half-block away. Puerto Madero restaurants are 5-6blocks too. Obelisco and Casa Rosada, too. If you´re in the mood for walking, you could even go to Recoleta neighborhood (about 2 miles - btw, if you go to Recoleta, you HAVE TO eat at Primafila italian restaurant on the Design Shopping, close to the Cemetery. Great food and unbelievable pricing). You have everything nearby: good restaurants, shopping, phone booths, metro stations, "freddo" ice cream, anything. I don´t think there are a lot of hotels with better location than this one.
-- All in all
Great location, great service, good breakfast and decent, but rather small rooms. I think I´d probably stay there again. Great cost/benefit.

I recently stayed at the Claridge in Buenos Aires. the location is great and the amenities are very well kept. Breakfast is fantastic but the their most important asset is their staff. I was staying at the property with my father who is not in very good health. The staff went above and beyond to make his and our time there more confortable. I would like to thank all the staff at the Claridge hotel for making our time there a memorable one.

This hotel is perfectly located in downtown Buenos Aires and is an ideal base to visit the city. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The wireless internet works well in rooms except after a power outage ... make sure to tell them to fix it after this happens.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Basic advantage of Claridge is excellent location in the downtown close to vibrant Florida walking street. Rooms are rather small but clean. Breakfast buffet is great. Staff is helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
