Hi everyone:
After trying to get a room at every hotel listed in the guidebooks, all of which were either booked, too expensive or unresponsive, we tried Purobaires - and we're really happy we did.
Very pretty hotel in a great neighborhood. It's brand-new and everything is clean, in working order and well-appointed.
Staff was very friendly and super helpful when it came to helping us book day trips and find good restaurants. We would have stayed here the whole trip but they had availability for only a few of the 11 nights were were in BA.
The rooms were really nice - beautiful linens, nice lighting, flat screen TV's and a fantastic bathroom & shower. The air didn't work at all, however, so if you're going in summer, be prepared to sweat it out.
My only other "observations" were that they only served b-fast until 11 AM (who's up that early in a city that only gets going at 2 AM???) and the b-fast itself was minimal: croissants, jam, fruit. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast to start your day, you won't find it here - or anywhere actually in Argentina. They're just not big b-fast eaters.
It's also not the kind of hotel that you'll wanna have a drink or dinner in. They don't have a wine list and I don't THINK they serve any meals other than breakfast.
The other thing was the noisy maids/hallway. The rooms are connected by a common area that is empty and has hardwood floors. Combine that with yappy maids and the loud slamming heavy doors and you'll have a not-so-peaceful wake-up call. That was definitely annoying. Staff should really talk to the maids about being more courteous to sleeping guests and perhaps fill that blank space with a rug and some furniture to help muffle sound.
Overall however, we liked this place and would stay here again if none of the other spots we stayed in were available.
My advice: if you can get it for a good price (that is, under US$140 INCLUDING tax) do it. If not, you may wanna look elsewhere.
