“Best yet in Red Sea area”

Had a wonderful week there. Short transfer from airport (15mins). Ticked all the boxes and more. Food (all inclusive is fantastic), service, rooms, pools, beach, snorkeling, staff all the best I have found in 19 visits to Red Sea resorts. Every detail seemed to be covered. Hotel had a friendly, effective hands-on manager and things went from there. Some Russians were there, but the quieter kind.
Situation on a bay shared with a couple of hotels and a well-run dive centre was excellent. Dives available on two sides of the house reef or speed boats to local dive sites. Longer boat trips to Elphinstone etc, from Port Galib nearby.
Minibus trip to Abu Dabab worth doing, saw doogong and four turtles plus guitar sharks.

Thomson reps were like headless chickens when plane flying to collect us had to be replaced involving an 8 hour delay. We got bussed 30 miles south away from the airport to an inferior hotel though the local manager said we could stay all inclusive and then the fun started....

As I write this I'm crying.... I was so sad to leave. Heaven on earth, food was lovely omlettes to order on a morning to die for, the soup was amazing, one meal time my son and I only had soup 3 bowls each. The pudding where amazing.... We were tipping early on we had been told to give pound coins!!!! but dont they are useless to them, there own currency is best. We took the hotel bus to a village near by, I wouldnt bother we were lucky to get back, just stay in the resort or guided trips and you will love it. You get pestered a bit to go on trips and hotel things but just say no thankyou. All in all they are lovely freindly funny people and I miss them so much.

“Stop trying to please everyone”

Iberotel Coraya Beach Resort

Apr 10, 2008

The Coraya is a beautiful hotel- excellent house reef, good facilities, staff who will bend over backwards to help you but they lack one thing: focus.

They advertise, at least with UK agents, as an couples/ adult resort so you'd expect to be left alone to relax and yet the general atmosphere is very 'Hi-de-Hi'- the staff are constantly asking you to play water polo/ do aqua aerobics/ get a massage/ have your hair done whilst you try to relax by the pool or on the beach.

Another point worth considering is that other European travel agents obviously market this resort as family/ child friendly and there were a great deal of children around the pool. Great if you don't mind that but when they're so noisy even the loudest volume of an iPod won't drown them out stress levels start to rise (especially as parents shout across you at them but that's a whole other problem)

Besides this the resort has a good deal of positive points too: the staff are attentive, the food is good and the facilities are wide-ranging and efficient. The laundry facility (included in the AI option) is fantastic- same day service delivered to your door which meant that packing was minimal.

The room was always spotless and fresh towels provided whenever you needed them changed. Our room guy (who looked like an Egyptian David Walliams) made a different creature out of the sheet every day- although one day his creation- a small child- scared the bejesus out of me as it was staring at me as I walked in and when I tried to move it, its head fell off.

Shower was hot and there was a great deal of hanging/ storage space in the room too.

We really enjoyed the holiday but would we go back? Until they decide on who they were targeting/ catering for I doubt it.

    • Disliked — Thomson advertised an on-site dive school on arrival we were told Thomson prefer you to book through them (on commission?)- and you have to get a bus to another one. Rather naughty!

I like this Hotel for the reasons in the previous review. We have traveled to egypt on many occasions. This is the best hotel we have stayed in. Our second visit to this one We arrived on my wifes birthday and when we were taken to our room there were birthday banners drapped across the curtains and the bed , a bithday card was on the table with a small gift of a camel, this was all a complete surprise as none of our party of six had informed the hotel, that evening after our meal the staff came to our table with the band playing singing happy birthday to my wife with a cake Staff had remembered us from our viset last year and this was very nice My biggest complaint would be the flight back from Marsa. Staff stated after takeoff that they had no bottled water!!! The seat was very uncomfortable/crampt,and i was so hot i thought i was going to combust. Not very nice at all. Gatwick is a pain, and i wish Serviceair would sort themselves out. Six and a quarter hour flight due to bad weather, and then standing around for what seemed ages waiting for our luggage. Thomsonfly need to get, more comfortable aircraft, which would vastly improve the whole experiance. Would i go back, yes, but shame we would have to fly with Thomson :-(

Stayed at the Coraya Beach from 5 - 12 March. Have been to Egypt on many occasions (Nile Cruise twice, Luxor, Cairo, Alexandria, El Gouna), and the first plus provided by Marsa Alam was the airport. Small (yet efficient), close to the resort (but no noise). speedy transfers with no hassle whatsoever. The hotel was immaculately presented. Bedrooms more than adequate with good housekeeping. Pools, gardens, well maintained and extremely clean. Bars, restaurant, facilities were good. Food varied, but generally of good quality with something to satisfy all tastes. All inclusive is recommended and provides good value for money. Beach clean with ample beds, but not suitable for swimming due to protected coral. Visited other hotels in the bay, and glad we chose the Coraya. The weather was wonderful, which enhanced an extremely relaxing break. We chose Marsa for a chill out week, and were not disappointed. The hotel fulfilled all expectations - but one week of doing very little was long enough. Would I return - yes !
