“Nice holiday, but poor entertainment”

Sol Verginia

3 of 5 stars
Western Lake district
Mar 14, 2008

Nice Holiday. We were all inclusive. The food was good quality but boring on the second week. Pick your times for meals to save the rush. We had difficulty explaining we needed HOT water for tea because the urn rarely got hot enough. So we used the water dispenser next to it. Non inclusive were not allowed to. The snacks were sandwich rolls. Not impressive. Bottles of water were not included, but occasionally a bottle appeared in our room. If you buy water at the shop opposite you'll save money, but security will stop you if you have more than 2 and you will have to leave excess bottles at reception and collect when you need them.

The staff are wonderful and love the British The towel artistry by our room attendant was fantastic but the entertainment staff were dire. They varied from "disco dancing" where we might as well have done the show for them, to fakir show with a guy walking on broken glass bottles carrying holidaymakers but brought in entertainment was good. The entertainment staff changed 3 times in our fortnight. Each time the staff had a slow learning curve and the times of performance got later and later until we just wanted to go to bed. But being behind the arena we couldn't sleep until the music stopped. We were warned that the Russians (Eastern Europeans in reality) were rude and took over, but in fact once a large party left, we got on great with smaller numbers.

The hotel shared beach is a 5 minute bus ride away, The first bus of the day was always full, so it was sometimes easier to walk and that only takes 20 minutes. I was impressed by the beach staff's care and attention when I ripped my skin on coral. I had the wounds cleaned and dressed by one guy who refused payment, but of course I gave him a good tip. The snorkelling was good off the beach but could be a bit scary jumping off the pontoon into deep water, and with no way back out except up the ladder back onto the pontoon.

The first evening excursion into the old town was a waste of time and an excuse to get you into the gold shop and a grotty outdoor cafe with slow service and cold tea. Don't use their toilets, they were disgusting. The other reps excursions were a bit overpriced, but were good . The pool was always icy cold (January). I cramped up it was so cold. A lot colder than the sea which was about 28 deg. but the pool bar service was good while we sunbathed next to it.

We enjoyed our holiday in Sol Verginia and Sharm and so should you, but it isn't a hotel or resort we will return to. We were spoilt by previous holidays at Taba Heights and Nuiweba.

“2* experience at Sol”

Sol Verginia

Mar 14, 2008

The -'s

- Paid All Inclusive, it isnt. They are extremely tight with drinks, dont like you drinking in rounds, throw the beer into the glass to maximise head.

- Foods dreadful. Buffet style, low quality rubbish. Ended up going for the Omlette all they time. Ended up a Papas taven near the water park for the Steak and Chips which was top draw.

- Fellow guests. Poles and Russians. Very demanding and abrupt. Thumping the bar for a drink type of stuff. The Egyptians dont like it and assume your one of them

- miles from anywhere!! have to get a taxi everywhere. All the Taxi drivers try and fleece you. No nearby decent beeches

The +'s

- Good Dive school next door - Pirates and another good dive school down the road colona or something.

- The pools nice, volleyball was good fun - especially having a mid afternoon ruck with all the eastern europeans.

hope you find this helpful, have a great holiday!

“Had a great time”

Sol Verginia

Mar 10, 2008

We just came back from a holiday and spent 2 weeks at Sol Verginia. We had already paid and booked before finding this website and I was very worried how our stay would be.
The rooms were ok but definately not 4star quality and the bathroom and funiture was a little old.
However the cleaniliness was excellent. We only had breakfast included and was disappointed that there was no fresh fruit and the food was catered pretty much for the Russian guests.
I would definatley not recommend going inclusive and eating at the hotel, after all it gives you the opurtunity to eat out and explore.
We found a lovey cafe called Blu Pizzaria a 5 min walk down the road and they did very cheap meals and fresh salads and juices where we would often have Lunch. Do not go to the Picasso Cafe further down as I was served a pie that had gone mouldy.
The hotel also has a free shuttle to the beach every hour and in the evening for 2euro to Nama Bay.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful
Over all I would stay at this hotel again but I do not reccommend to go inclusive. We absolutley enjoyed Sharm and there are endless things to do and the people are always happy to please.
I cant wait to go back again.

“Fantastic”

Sol Verginia

Mar 8, 2008

My chum and I stayed at this hotel and we really enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is spotless and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much of a bother to them. The food was delicious and their desserts to die for. Even if you are a fussy eater there is something there you will enjoy. I would recommend going all inclusive as this means you will have all the drinks you want up till 11pm. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The young lad that made our beds made us corcodiles and different things out of the towels and top cover of bed. It was lovely. If you are going to book trips do not use the rep. Use one of the shops outside of the hotel or on beach it will be cheaper. Watch out for the taxis make sure you agree a price before you get into it. Also ask a few their price. They do try to fiddle you. The hotel takes you by bus to the beach and brings you back they also take you into the shops by bus and pick you up again. I cannot find fault with this hotel.

“will not be going back”

Board Basis: All Inclusive
Date of Holiday: Dec 2007
Tour Operator: Flyglobespan
Submitted By: Mrs t singh
Overall Rating: 1/10
Comments: we were sold this package by globespan on an all inclusive basis, however what they did not show on their brochure was the food which was terrible same stuff morning noon and night each day the so called snacks were what was left over from morning breakfast i.e mini croissants and that was it even that was restricted to one hour only the three restarants or bars which were described in the brochure were basically non existant because the food was the same except we ended up paying for it when we ordered it from the poolside. What i found most disturbing was the complete and absolute non visibility of women the whole place including the beauty therapy is run by men. if you want to go just for the cleanliness of the place go there other than that unless the food has changed dramatically don't waste your money and globespan should send out someone to review the food before they advertise this place as all inclusive again. the staff were all very helpful and the globespan rep was good also but they could not do anything about the food. By the way we paid an extra £75 each for a trip to see the pyramids and it was not worth it the places we stopped at for rest were terrible and there was no real stop in the morning after travelling all night to get washed and changed. the actual site around the pyramids is really awful and was a real dissapointment

yours sincerely
mrs trishna singh
