My hustand and I stayed at the Three Corners Kiroseiz from 16 - 26 May. We booked Three Corners St George through On the Beach and were annoyed when we received an email saying that we were being moved to the Kiroseiz. I had read all the reviews and, whilst those on Three Corners St George were very favourable, those on Kiroseiz were not good. The explanation for the change was that there had been a hotel administration error.
However, having decided to make the most of the situation, and having been told we could get a refund on the flights but not the hotel, we went to the Kiroseiz and, I have to say, we had a great time and thought it was very good value for money.
We travelled with XL and the both flights were on time with no problems. When we arrived quite late at Sharm El Sheikh Airport we were herded into the visa queue. Take note you DO NOT need a visa if you are staying in the resort. Having queued and reached the counter we were told that a visa cost £12 each. I had noticed that there was a notice on the window at the other end of counters saying visas £8. When my husband asked why we were told we could go to the other counter if we wished, this we did and paid only £8 and were then told by the cashier that it was because this was a bank!!!
I had emailed the hotel and asked for a room in the new block. Indeed we were given a room in the new block, room 5017, which had a balcony onto the pool area and opposite the bar.
The blocks were number 1 - 5 and the ground floor was 0 and first 1 etc. then the room numbers, ours was 17 so block 5, floor 0 and room no. 17. Hence our room 5017. So if you want a room opening out onto the pool ask for the block number and then 0. The rooms in block 4 seemed to be the best side of the pool.
We prefered this part of the hotel as it was quieter and we wanted a relaxing holiday and did not want to join in the pool games which were on offer at the other pool. The room was good and kept very clean by Walet. The barman named Amon at the pool bar was very helpful and obliging unfortunately he was only there for the first few days of our holiday. We ate in the newer restaurant and enjoyed the tables outside in the open air in the evening and we were looked after well by our waiter Ehmet. The staff were all lovely, always smiling even when busy and I would recommend a small tip to all the staff who give you good service as it goes a long way and your glass will never be empty, your towels always replaced and your parasol raised with a smile.
We booked three trips through the hotel. The Sunset cruise which was good fun - recommend taking a snorkel and mask, African night on the Sandy Beach area and also the Bedouin night which is to be thoroughly recommended.
We also had a honeymoon massage in the new Renaissance Health Club at the hotel. We negotiated the price through Hony who is always ready for a chat and a bit of banter so, if you fancy a bit of pampering at a good price, speak with him. I had a very attractive Egyptian guy doing my massage but my husband was a bit disappointed that he also had a male although he had booked 5 females - down to Hony again!
The hotel was getting busier at the end of our stay and there were some Russians staying. On the whole, we found them quite friendly. Speak as you find, we prefered them to the noisy Scottish female who loudly banged doors and shouted "the sun is rising and I am just going to my bed" in the early hours.
After all the bad reviews, we can only say that we were very pleasantly surprised with everything at the hotel. The food was good, wine and beer were good, entertainment limited but enjoyable. They had nearly finished a new ampitheatre at the hotel so thing may improve the acts. I had slight tummy problems due, I think to over-indulging , my husband had sickness and diarrhoia after eating at the Sandy Beach. I used mossie spray and had a very few minor bites.
We paid €40 to keep our room until 9pm on our day of departure and this was well worth the money. We asked if we could keep our bands until 11pm when we took our taxi to the airport so we could have a cold drink before leaving and they were very happy to oblige. Ask politely with a smile and sence of humour and you will not be disappointed, we found the staff very helpful and friendly.
To sum up the hotel is not a 5 star by English standards but it is very good value for money so go along with an open mind and enjoy it as much as we did.
