Me and my boyfriend just returned from Rosetta after a 2 week stay b & b.
Would definatly recommend this hotel if you are on a tight budget and don't plan to spend your full time in the hotel.
We only slept in our room, as we were always out or just round the pool.
As i work for a tour operator and have worked within travel and tourism for 5 years, i know what to expect on a holiday. We travelled with First choice, out transfer from airport to the hotel was shocking, no information given to us at all, just dropped us off at hotel and that was it. there was only 4 of us on the coach. This was not a good start, good job i work in travel and tourism and that i had looked into going so i knew what not to do and what to do.
As we were travelling with first choice, we also had a welcome meeting the second day, our rep was useless. Our welcome meeting was just in hotel reception with just 4 of us again. Our rep wasn't supposed to be working in Sharm as she works in Luxor so she didn't really give much info to us. All she talked about was Luxor and was clearly putting Sharm down, as though she hated it. She didn't tell us about any of the excursions, just gave us a sheet of paper with prices on. We were really dissapointed as on friday, our first week we were in tavern bar and saw a big group of people with a load of first choice reps which they were on a tour called 'Naama bay by night'. As we didn't know what this was , we never paid to go on it, i feel that the rep could of gave us a little info on this and we would have wanted to go, we could of met new people. During our 2 week stay we had 3 different reps as the other 2 left.
We might as well have booked our holiday independantly, it would have been cheaper.
Anyway on with the hotel......... We stayed in room 909 which was located near the hotels smallest pool. The room was dated but it was very clean and comfy, which is important. We left a tip for the cleaner the first day and then tipped him throughout our stay. The cleaner was really friendly, he was the friendliest member of staff of the whole hotel. The cleaning standard was very good, not one dirtiness in our room. They even mop the outside floors every day. very impressive.
There are 5 pools in the hotel. 1 is a very small pool, 3 are good sizes and then theres 1 massive pool. All the pools are freezing but you get used to them once you are in them. Pool boys are very friendly and the boys who work at the pool bar are friendly aswell. You get disturbed quite a bit aswell while relaxing at the pool, by newspaper boy, massage people and the beauty salon people. It got quite annoying by the end of the two weeks, and i could feel myself turning quite rude when they kepy asking.
Breakfast at the hotel was ok, not great. Didn't rate the hot food very much but the different types of patries were nice, pancakes were nice. They also had cereal which is served with hot milk, i just used to walk over to the tea and coffee and get cold milk though.
The hotels beach is called Tropicana New tiran beach, this must be one of the worse beach in Sharm/Naama Bay. All the sunbeds are squashed together and the sunbeds dont even adjust so u were having to lay down on the. On this beach you are constantly getting disturbed by tatooist, excursion boy, massage people and newpaper boys, it got quite annoying especially the newspaper boy, there were hundreds on them. We only ever went on the beach twice, i didn't see any british on it, just russians.
On the last day we had a bit of money left so we paid to get onto another beach, Gafy beach which Rosetta used to have a contract with but not renewed it so we had to pay £5pp to get on, we did get towels. It was worth paying to get on as the beach is much better, the water was nicer, coral was amazing, staff much friendlier and entertainment on there. We didn't get anyone disturbing us either. Just wish we'd have paid to go on the beach sooner.
There isn't really entertainment at this hotel, there is a arabic night on twice a week which you will get the man trying to sell to you everyday. Hisham was the man trying to sell everyday, it got quite annoying as we had already bought a ticket from him for this night, then he was trying to sell us it a few hours later, we told him we already got one from him and he didn't believe us so he had to look through his receipts to find our room number. We were trying to eat in the royal bar at this point.
I highly reccomend going to the Pirates bar which is located at the hilton fayrouz, you can cut through the hilton to get to the beach. happy hour from 6pm - 9pm on Lager, 6pm - 60p, 7pm - 70p, 8pm - 80p. The food is excellent, they have most football matches on, the staff are very friendly, always talking to us, even the boss sat and had a few drinks with us one night and bought us a drink.
This review is not to put you off but to give a honest opinion on what i thought. I would stay at this hotel again as the location is excellent, the beach is just the main put off.
Any questions please ask.
