“Great hotel - great holiday !”

Went to the Golden Resort, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in October 2005 and had a great time and the weather was great every day. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very nicely laid out and even though we went during Ramadan we took full advantage of the all-inclusive alcohol! The rooms were clean and spacious and had a luxurious feel to them. The food was also very good for an all inclusive, buffet style with lots of choice and differing menus every night. We went into Sharm El Sheikh one evening but were not that impressed, spent most nights in the hotel where it felt much safer. We also used the facilities of the 5* sister hotel across the road - there are a choice of 3 restaurants but they are not part of the all-inclusive price but are still very reasonably priced - just be aware of the prices for the wine! As its imported we ended up paying near £50 for a mediocre bottle! There is also a small private beach that you can use which has great views and was all very relaxed - the bar people were very friendly and they couldnt do enough for you! The pools were stunning and kept very nice and the gardens too were well maintained, with nice little bridges and most importantly . . plenty of sunbeds! We took a trip to Cairo to see the pyramids. Cairo seems quite run down and there were lots of people begging etc so you have to keep your wits about you but the sights were very interesting and I would recommend the excursion to the museum too, it usually comes as a package with the Pyramids and the Sphinx. The pyramids were great and you dont realise how big they are, but be aware if you suffer from chlausterphobia as it may not be a good idea that you venture into the Pyramid, and theres not a great deal to see anyway! Overall a thoroughly enjoyable holiday :)

“Lovely Hotel & Grounds on the Beach”

Radisson SAS Resort Sharm El Sheikh

We had a lovely time at this hotel. From the minute you arrive you are given a drink to 'destress' you and then taken to your room in a golf buggy, you are looked after all the time you are there. The staff are very curteous without being over the top.
The bedrooms are very spacious and just as the picture in the brochure/internet. We were offered an upgrade when we got there for a charge but glad we hadn't bothered when we saw the room which overlooked the pool.
The grounds are lovely although the pool was very cold due to the time of year. The hotel has its own private beach and you can always find a sun bed with shade. You have to get into the sea from the jetty as you are not allowed to walk on the coral but everyone must go and have a look you will be amazed at all the lovely fish even if you can't snorkel very well (which I couldn't but the lifeguards did offer to teach me).
The entertainment wasn't our cup of tea - singer with piano (although he was quite good).
The food on all inclusive was very good and a buffet , there was always plenty of choice and every night there was a different theme with show cooking by the chef.
Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will definitely be going back.
This was our first time in Egypt and I must admit the security was a bit off putting (even though you know it is for your safety). There are checkpoints along the roads and all hotels have gatehouses/barriers and have armed guards at night. We did go to Naama Bay and even then on the coach had to go through checkpoints. If you can ignore that part then you will have a great time in Sharm el Sheikh

“Fantastic for Winter Sun”

Wasn't sure what to expect in Egypt or the hotel because there are so many mixed reviews but me and my husband went for one week and had a brilliant time. The hotel was lovely, its about 10 minutes away from the airport and 20 minutes away from Naama Bay, so we thought it was a good location. We had pool view/sea view standard ground floor room which was really spacius and very clean, we were really comfortable. It is a five star hotel for Egypt but not what Brits would view as a 5 star British Hotel but it was still a fab hotel, the grounds and gardens are beautiful, really nice pools and it has its own private beach with its own coral reef for snorkling which was great and a lot of fun, the staff in general were all friendly so we would definately reccommend the hotel. We went quad biking in the desert which was good fun but would definately recommend the buggy cars which we did in Lanzarote, they did it in Sharm El Sheikh as well and its ten times faster than the quads, they shot past us on our journey through the desert! We also did the trip to the pyramids on bus which as great when we got there, the pyramids are really amazing, but it was an 8 hour bus journey there and back so be prepared! Make sure you take your own tissue as they charge you in the toilets ridiculous prices for a couple of sheets! The bus journey to Cairo cost us £25 (you get bus journey, cairo museum, lunch on the Nile, pyramids and sphinx inc) each which was good prices. We bartered down every price we got for anything...what ever someone asks you for, make sure you half the price straight away and barter from there, the Egyptians told us that Brits in general get charged higher prices than the polish or the russians (on our quad trip we were told to pretend we were polish by the excursion manager because we'd got them down to such a cheap price!). Theres a hotel bus that charges £4 return to into Naama Bay which we used all the time also taxis were cheap, Naama Bay was great nightlife, we went to Pacha which was a brilliant night out although expect London prices!! We got some great cheap restaurants though, we had gone B&B at the hotel so we dined out a lot, it was worth it though, you get to meet loads of people....all in all we had a fab time and would reccommend going and would go back ourselves

“Really nice hotel but bit far away form the action !”

I was amazed when we actually arrived at this hotel how nice it was after reading some of the reviews. Our room was beautiful and always immaculately cleaned by the very friendly Ahmed.
The grounds are exceptionally well laid out and theres plenty of options for a bit of privacy if thats what you want.
All the staff were lovely and extremely helpful, we ate in the fantastic Lebanese restaurant and the Italian one was ok too.
I found breakfast a bit chaotic as there seems to be hundreds of people all milling around at once but once you get a table its not too bad. I wouldnt say its the best food Ive ever had but there is a really good mix.
If this hotel was closer to Sharm I probably would stay here again but a 30minute drive is just too much. The area of Nabq bay is still being developed so maybe in a few years it would be a bit more exciting -would suit people who are happy to stay in the resort for the duration of their holiday.

“Excellent Hotel!!!”

Just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks at the Radisson SAS. To be honest most of the recent reviews on this Hotel have been very negative, so I was pleasantly surprised and need not have had any worries at all.
We received a very warm welcome on our arrival and were upgraded to a Marine Club Room free of charge. The room was spacious clean and bright, very comfortable and almost right on the beach. The guy that cleaned the room every day was top class, always had a smile on his face.
The Hotel grounds are truly magnificent, a lot of care and work goes into maintaining the grounds and it shows!
The beach itself is nothing special the sand is very grainy and you cannot to straight into the sea as it is full of coral and you are forbidden to walk on it. However there is a jetty provided and from there you can snorkel and see the beautiful varieties of fish, truly amazing!
Some reviewers complained about the loud music by the animation team ; I did not find this an issue at all , it was NOT booming out all day. Also, many have complained about the jet noise, again that did not bother me, ok there were a few noisy Russian jets flying over every day and occasionally early in the morning but it was not that annoying as to ruin my holiday.
With regard to the food, were on a bed and breakfast basis and I must say I found the breakfast very good. Lovely fresh orange juice (£1stg extra) , beautiful omelettes, fresh pastries and breads, the selection was endless.
We alternated with the Hotel restaurants and Na'ama Bay, and overall the food was excellent. For a special night out try La Fleur restaurant at the Mövenpick Hotel , outstanding . Use the Hotel taxi, very reasonable and they will pick you up when you are ready to return to the Hotel. We heard of numerous people getting sick in other Hotels while we were there, thankfully we were fine. My wife brought antiseptic hand gel which we used quiet often; the money is absolutely filthy and a big germ carrier.
We varied our holiday by going to Ras Mohammad National Park by boat, fantastic day out , the snorkelling was the best I have ever done; went on a two day trip to Cairo, well worth it , (book it yourself before you depart for Egypt, you will save yourself a fortune!) and finally we went to a Bedouin camp in the desert, a great evening out under the stars!
The hotel put on a Gala Dinner on Christmas Eve (excellent) a Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day (8 course, superb) and a Gala Dinner on New Years Eve. This was truly an outstanding night with the range of food and entertainment second to none. Hats off to the Hotel management team and all the staff for a job well done.
As you can see from the above we really enjoyed our stay in the Radisson and would definitely return without question.( I would NOT go to Sharm in the summer months as it is way too hot ,mid 40s every day, we had glorious weather in late December/ early January mid 20s every day and only one poor day in the two weeks)
They say the Hotel is rated 5 star but I would rate it a very good 4 star. My only complaint is the client mix, 75% Russian and the remainder mostly western European. I really do not know what it is with Russian people but they really do test your patience. Enough said! If you are staying in the Radisson, enjoy it!!!!!!!!
