We stayed there last year as soon as we arived we were asked to upgrade as the room we had allocated was to small. This seems to be the norm.

Although we found the facilities to be okay, it was spoilt by the constant noise of the building site next door and I mean next door. It was impossible to relax on the beach as there was a constant drilling noise for about 6 hrs per day. There was no mention of this in the brouchure or reviews.

Apart from the noise it was okay

    • Liked — The noise and asking us to upgrade with an extra cost really spoiled the holiday staff were fine and the hotel was very clean and tidy
    • Disliked — noise noise

My fiancee and I stayed at the Hilton Sharks Bay as a getaway break prior to our wedding and we had an amazing time.

The hotel was brilliant, with big, clean rooms and great facilities.
The buffet was very good, with plenty of fresh produce and with wonderful themed nights (the Egyptian one was the best). The a la carte restaurant was very good, with great service and a nice variety of dishes.

The beach was small and there's no sand but the reef was incredible. We saw loads of different types of fish, and the man who runs the diving trips spent some time explaining what each of the fish were and a bit about them.

All in all a fantastic hotel on an amazing reef with great staff. As a piece of advice, it's only 5 minutes drive from the airport, so if you're travelling with a group, save your money on the resort transfer.

The flights on Monarch where awful but thats thier faukt not the hotels however I would not fly again with them. This hotel is just ok ! the pools are nice but very very cold the grounds are nice. The beach is not very nice but i only went to snorkle so that did not bother me to much but it may to others. The room was nice but a bit dated again not that fussed as long as cleaned and it was. The hotel itself I found to be clean. The food was the BIG let down i didnt eat for the last 2 days as i had a bad tummy so did my parnter and yes we used anti bac hand wash all the time so it must have been the food or drink. The food is bland oftern not hot enough there was a poor selection of burgers and chips at dinner times ! my goodness they dont have anything that is slighly traditional at all i found this dissapointing i dont go on holiday to have burgers but as a last resort they where the best tasting things out of everything we had just all bland ! cant wait for my curry tonight. We got back yesterday. The staff are so nice i did not feel i had to tip them but i did and it did not seem to get my better service than anyone else. The guys in the chillout bar are great. The reson i came to this hotel was the reef you will not be dissapointed we saw a giant moray in 2ft of water i will get photos posted. We saw rays, pipe fish trumpet fish, nepolean fish, trigger fiah to name a few it was fantastic. The entertainment was quite good at night times but only lasted an hour they do need more. They had shows singers etc. The day time staff where new and i dont think they did enough during the day to keep you busy. There is a kids pool so why people keep bringing crying kids round the quiet adults pool was very annoying ! I would not go back to this hotel unless they sorted the food and the entertianment out. If you want to do nothing and are not a fussy eater you will be ok. I think for the money it wasnt bad. We went to the sunrise makadi bay in hurgarda and it knocked the socks off the hilton food wise for the same price.
Nama Bay is a strange place and worth a look go later on about 8ish you wont get much hassle we only go asked into 2 bars but we did get asked about 10 times if we wanted a taxi. Also its not cheap camel bar 2 bottles of sakara beer worked out at £4.50 english as did most places. Go up to the bar where they have the band and whirlin dirvish its fab but again expensive 3 beers £10.00 but the entertainment was brill. Check prices in the resturants as they do add tax and service charges of up to 20% so be warned. The waterpark for hilton guests is free !. If you want any more info email me. We emailed the hilton to say it was our anniversary and we did get a nice quiet room along with a bottle of wine (not nice was any of the wine) all in all a relaxing atay with the best snorkling but wont go back due to the poor food. Oh be aware if you go on the bedouin trip take small money in EGP for the poor kids who look after your camel they beg at you all the time and this did taint what was a nice night.

First tip, dont book through Thomson. If you book through Portland Direct you get the same Thomson holiday but cheaper!

This Hotel was OK. I had a great time but im not a fussy eater and as I am an early riser i managed to secure poolside loungers every day. If you can find a seat after 9am you're lucky!

My wife on the other hand won't just eat anything and so she didnt enjoy the food. Breakfast is ok, omlettes, fried eggs, sausages etc. Lunch is ok hotdogs and burgers. Evening meal on the other hand was poor. The Pizzas were bland, the pasta was overcooked and soggy, the meat was usually dry and of poor quality.

The all inclusive drinks tasted fine. If you tip the barman at the start of the night they will usually give you a stronger drink. The white wine was acceptable but I stuck to spirits, some of which did seem to run out regularly.

The pool is nice and the water polo and water volleyball was good fun. Except for the poor people who had loungers by this part of the pool and were regularly hit by flying volleyballs!

Overall, we got what we expected from a mid-range all inclusive. Would I go back? I'd try a different hotel next time but I doubt they'd be as cheap. So yes, but only because of the price and the hot april weather.

“Lovely, relaxing stay”

Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

On arrival at the hotel, you receive a warm welcome in the lobby where there are cold drinks to greet you. The reception staff are very helpful and speak very good English. We were offered an upgrade for £15 per night but we declined - often these rooms are overlooking a pool and I can imagine will be quite loud as the pool is busy from very early in the morning.

We got a 'golf' buggy down to our room by a member of staff who kindly placed all our luggage in our room. The room was nice - clean, comfy bed and a fridge stocked with water. I understood from people I spoke to that if you are a returning visitor then you get other little extras like choccies. The bathroom was large with loads of towels - I must stay it was clean but not the cleanest I have ever seen. Our balcony didn't have a view of anything particularly exciting but it was quiet and nice to have a drink there before going for our evening meal. Housekeeping is good and the staff design your towels daily on your bed - a swan, heart etc which is a nice little touch.

In relation to the grounds and facilities they are top notch. Staff are always around cleaning and tidying up around the pool area - as you can imagine as an all inclusive there are glasses and bottles everywhere so they make a big effort to keep the areas clean for visitors. There are nice outdoor beds (if you can call them that!) that are dotted around the hotel and away from the hustle and bustle of the pools which you can use to relax and chill out which are nice.

I understand what some reviewers have written about the food. It is often quite 'random'. Every night in the buffet they have a theme whether it be Lebonese, Asian etc which I don't think a lot of people know as it's wriiten on a small notice outside the restaurant. People from Britain often expect to go abroad and be fed chips, burgers and all the usual rubbish but just as much as it wasn't amazing food it was definitley something different. You cannot fail to find something you like. Worst case scenario is that you eat freshly made pizza every night!

As I can see some of the most recent reviews are mixed for Hilton Sharks Bay. I understand that the name Hilton is synonymous with quality and I do feel that perhaps this hotel doesn't match the standard in the UK. Despite this, it's a lovely hotel with brilliant staff who will do anything to help you. We didn't have children with us but the animation team who put on the daily entertainment were superb towards kids. One reviewer has commented on the plastic wobbly jetty that you walk down to go in to the sea - to be honest not all hotels in Sharm are on the water and you would have to pay for that privilege in other resorts so it's not something to be complaining about. Granted it's busy but there's nothing the hotel can do about that and the snorkeling is so good there that it's unsurprising that people are keen to do it. We hired a mask, flippers and a snorkel for a deposit of £40 (seems a lot) which you get back in full when you return the equipment.

All in all, a lovely relaxing week for superb value. I would certainly think about returning.
