First tip, dont book through Thomson. If you book through Portland Direct you get the same Thomson holiday but cheaper!

This Hotel was OK. I had a great time but im not a fussy eater and as I am an early riser i managed to secure poolside loungers every day. If you can find a seat after 9am you're lucky!

My wife on the other hand won't just eat anything and so she didnt enjoy the food. Breakfast is ok, omlettes, fried eggs, sausages etc. Lunch is ok hotdogs and burgers. Evening meal on the other hand was poor. The Pizzas were bland, the pasta was overcooked and soggy, the meat was usually dry and of poor quality.

The all inclusive drinks tasted fine. If you tip the barman at the start of the night they will usually give you a stronger drink. The white wine was acceptable but I stuck to spirits, some of which did seem to run out regularly.

The pool is nice and the water polo and water volleyball was good fun. Except for the poor people who had loungers by this part of the pool and were regularly hit by flying volleyballs!

Overall, we got what we expected from a mid-range all inclusive. Would I go back? I'd try a different hotel next time but I doubt they'd be as cheap. So yes, but only because of the price and the hot april weather.

“Lovely, relaxing stay”

Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

On arrival at the hotel, you receive a warm welcome in the lobby where there are cold drinks to greet you. The reception staff are very helpful and speak very good English. We were offered an upgrade for £15 per night but we declined - often these rooms are overlooking a pool and I can imagine will be quite loud as the pool is busy from very early in the morning.

We got a 'golf' buggy down to our room by a member of staff who kindly placed all our luggage in our room. The room was nice - clean, comfy bed and a fridge stocked with water. I understood from people I spoke to that if you are a returning visitor then you get other little extras like choccies. The bathroom was large with loads of towels - I must stay it was clean but not the cleanest I have ever seen. Our balcony didn't have a view of anything particularly exciting but it was quiet and nice to have a drink there before going for our evening meal. Housekeeping is good and the staff design your towels daily on your bed - a swan, heart etc which is a nice little touch.

In relation to the grounds and facilities they are top notch. Staff are always around cleaning and tidying up around the pool area - as you can imagine as an all inclusive there are glasses and bottles everywhere so they make a big effort to keep the areas clean for visitors. There are nice outdoor beds (if you can call them that!) that are dotted around the hotel and away from the hustle and bustle of the pools which you can use to relax and chill out which are nice.

I understand what some reviewers have written about the food. It is often quite 'random'. Every night in the buffet they have a theme whether it be Lebonese, Asian etc which I don't think a lot of people know as it's wriiten on a small notice outside the restaurant. People from Britain often expect to go abroad and be fed chips, burgers and all the usual rubbish but just as much as it wasn't amazing food it was definitley something different. You cannot fail to find something you like. Worst case scenario is that you eat freshly made pizza every night!

As I can see some of the most recent reviews are mixed for Hilton Sharks Bay. I understand that the name Hilton is synonymous with quality and I do feel that perhaps this hotel doesn't match the standard in the UK. Despite this, it's a lovely hotel with brilliant staff who will do anything to help you. We didn't have children with us but the animation team who put on the daily entertainment were superb towards kids. One reviewer has commented on the plastic wobbly jetty that you walk down to go in to the sea - to be honest not all hotels in Sharm are on the water and you would have to pay for that privilege in other resorts so it's not something to be complaining about. Granted it's busy but there's nothing the hotel can do about that and the snorkeling is so good there that it's unsurprising that people are keen to do it. We hired a mask, flippers and a snorkel for a deposit of £40 (seems a lot) which you get back in full when you return the equipment.

All in all, a lovely relaxing week for superb value. I would certainly think about returning.

Just returned from a week all-inclusive at the above. Over all it was fine but a few problems were encountered.
We arrived after dark and on wakening up the following morning discovered that our room was at the back of the Hotel and overlooked a building site. We asked to be moved and were told that we could be upgraded but at an extra cost of £15 per night, this then decreased to £12 then was finalised at £10. The room that we were "upgraded " to was identical to the original one but had a view over one of the pools and this was given as the reason for the extra charge.
The Hotel is in a quiet and peaceful location soms 20 minutes or so away from Naama bay which is where all the action is - we went in one night and thought that it was rather like Blackpool but without the class !
The staff and service at the hotel are excellent and the facilities cannot be faulted - the only thing that lets it down is the food - Breakfast is fine and lunchtime snacks are OK but the Dinners in both restaurants leave a lot to be desired - plenty of nice salads etc for starters and the desserts are fine but if you are at all fussy you will have problems with the main courses which are unimaginative and badly cooked, still what can you expect for the very, very reasonable amount charged by the tour operators for all inclusive?

“I must be from a different planet”

Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

Booked through recommendation of an 'knowledgeable & experienced' travel adviser, arranged by a friend, who believed everything they said.
First lesson, don't ever do that.

Having travelled extensively on holiday and business over many years & having used Hilton hotels worldwide, certainly wasn't expecting Hilton Shark's bay to resemble a 'Maplin's' Holiday Camp...complete with an irritating Ted Bovis clone.

I guess Hilton's 'Worldwide Resorts' is catering for a mass down market clientele, in which case they're seling their name short & hitting gold.

If you like tasteless mass produced food that looks like vomit, you're get lucky.

If you like an 8 foot deep 'beach' replete with discarded builder's rubbish, you've come to the right place.

If you like walking down a wobbly ckae walk of a floating plastic jetty to get into the water, & then have to queue to get in and out of the water, you'll love it.

if you like a high class of hygiene, clean the cutlery before you use it, twice saw waiters pick up dropped cutlery & put it back on the tables.

If you don't like gin, good, 'cos they run out on the first day & we never saw any for the restof the week.

If you like beef burgers cooked on the charcoal grill, & freshly made pizza in the evening, you're in luck....it's the only appetising food we could find, so we ate it all week.

if you like the appalling noise of unsupervised children during mealtimes (there's a 'kiddy eating area' for the little darlings) & a vast canteen style 'restaurant', you're in luck again.

If you like pleasant helpful staff, they were brilliant, and you should tip them well.

The rooms are mostly well maintained, and the beds are superbly comfortable.

Second lesson, next year, Centre Parks or Butlins for me.

Have a nice stay, all the best, David.
